Debating about APUSH

Hi, I'm a sophomore thinking about what courses I'm going to take next year (I like to plan ahead, sue me). Anyways, I pretty much have everything set except for my Social Studies course. My school gives us so much variety for junior year -- APUSH versus regular US History.

The problem is, there are about 5-6 APUSH teachers who teach a total of 12-13 APUSH classes in my school, and only 2 of them are any good. And of those 2, I've heard one of them might just be the most boring person on the planet. And every other teacher is either mediocre or plain bad.

I'm honestly terrified since I've heard of class averages on tests being in the 40's and not getting curved, and I can't afford anything under an 85 in a Social Studies class. (On my school's transcripts our courses are separated by subject for some reason) So I'm thinking of taking regular US History, but I'm currently in an AP Social Studies class (AP Human Geography) and I don't want colleges or anyone to think I'm being lazy or demoting myself to a regular class, since usually once you get on the Honors/AP track you stay on it.

My plans for next year other than APUSH are AP English Language & Composition, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics B/C (probably going to stick with B), French III, and Drama.

Any advice?

I would go for it. I am currently in APUSH and am maintaining around a 95 in the class (though of course this varies by school). If the teaches are not the greatest you can study for the test on your own, I know several people who have done this and been fine. If I where you I would take physics C instead of B or AB instead of BC (you are looking at a lot of classes that give a lot of homework).

I’m taking it now, and I’m doing good(97 average), but you need to be a good studier and very diligent and committed to doing all the work. I would consider our course hard, but not as bad as others (usually 66 test average). It’s nowhere near as hard as our AP world class which always has high 50 test averages.
