DECA - Easiest Events to qualify for ICDC?

So this year was my first in DECA and I made it to state but did not qualify for nationals. Next year will be my last chance to make it to nationals and I really want to qualify.

Lots of the events are saturated with tons of people which make it extremely hard to qualify for nationals. I went through the list of all the events and it occurred to me that I wouldn't mind participating in any one of them. All of the events interest me to some extent (some more than others, obviously).

So my question is, what events are the easiest/have the least amount of people competing?

It really depends on the state you’re in. For Ontario this year, I believe BOR was the least competitive.

I’m in WA, so we generally have a lot of competition.

BOR sounds like a really interesting event though. I like the general premise of it and could see myself doing it.

No its a little late of reply but I can speak out of personal experience. I went to 2012 ICDC for QSRM. The categories with the least number of competitors are the Individual Series Competition. Avoid the Principles Competitions, the number of competitors is way too much to have a good probability of going to ICDC, regardless of talent. I went to ICDC with no previous DECA experience or knowledge of Quick Serve. Didnt really study, just kind of winged it. FIRST in Districts, 4th in State.

Best of luck

hey can i ask you a question about DECA? what do you normally do during meetings? i was just doing really well in my marketing class this past year, and my teacher wants me to join DECA. thanks!

oh and also what does the club president of DECA do. like the president at your school. thanks again!
