**December 14 ACT Thread**

First time taking it as a sophomore.
Composite: 30
English: 35
Math: 25
Reading: 33
Science: 25

i want my score ughhhhhhhhh

36 in science… for anyone who still cares:
the answer was beaks, not feathers

:P
(done testing! yay)

@ataraxis, that is not necessarily true. The curve could have been 36=39-40 and that was the one question you got wrong! haha awesome job, though… really wish i had that score in science :/

@ataraxis I will hate fossilization forever now. ;( CONGRATS!

But still, I’m pretty sure it was beaks; feathers do leave fossils behind.

@jman @xcand
thanks!!
i actually accidentally stabbed myself with a pencil and my finger started bleeding during this section (i still remember the pain)

OMGGGGGGG

COMPOSITE : 35!!!

R: 36
M: 36
E: 36
S: 30 (SMD science, this is why I hate you. But I was surprised I got this. Was aiming for a 12/36)

IM SO HAPPY BC THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I EVER DID WELL ON AN EXAM LOL

@ataraxis Blood is the new Number 2 lead;)

C: 28 (kill.me.now) ( up one pt.)
E:34 (went up from 28) very easy
M:30 ( went up from 28) fair ( more on the easy side, though i messed up on a few easy ones
R:24 ( down from 27) i look back upon it, think it was o.k, should’ve scored higher
S:23(down from 24 lol) ive always sucked at science, so it was very hard. Wase xpecting a 21 though lol.

Do colleges put more weight at the E + M? (UPenn) and does it superscore? Because I have a 29 superscored lol.

Son took Dec test on standby when he realized his first choice school would superscore. Common App had already been submitted and didn’t indicate he was taking test again (as he hadn’t planned to). Now he doesn’t want to request scores in case there isn’t an improvement, but jan 1 is admission deadline.

Scores are not online. Status says “registered”. Any chance they’ll be coming in next few hours, anyone know?

yeah I dont know why my son is still coming up registered when 2 kids at the same test center posted their scores. I am not happy. old87 scores come out on Wed and Fri I believe.

God I wish I could make in the 30’s. I’m pretty sad right now. Made a 27 on the October test. Hers my scores from this time:
E-28(2 pts lower)
M-28(2 pts higher)
R- 25(same, I freaking hate this section)
S- 27(I have no clue how I even scored this high, It seemed so hard)
Composite: 27 (which is the same as last time)

Guess I’m taking the Febuary one :(

But Wednesday is new Years day, so i imagine it’s unlikely this week.

Bummer. Now we have to decide whether to send sight unseen. Son was specifically focussed on the one section he’d done very badly the first time IEnglish). I’m concerned he may have “blown off” the other sections as he was looking at superscoring. If he has done that (and not done well on his English), will his college see an attitude problem - or see what he was trying to do by focussing on his weak section.

@old87green It is my understanding that if the college super scores, then the computer does the magic. The admissions officer just sees the final product. This is what MIT told me.

So what kind of prep books did you guys use?

@chantilly PR 1,296 was fabulous and Red Book. I should have done more, but I was focusing on essays and the like. I hear that McGraw Hill 10 Tests is nice, and I hear that Barron’s is good for hard practice tests. (I don’t own either.)

Ah,thank you. That’s useful information.

E-27 (Went down from a 28. Thought I could’ve done way better.)
M-32 (Went up from a 26!Had an amazing Algebra II teacher! No trig yet, so I’m very content.)
R-32 (Went up from a 23! This was suppose to be the hardest section for me, but it was very easy this time.)
S-27 (Stayed the same. It was so difficult this time, surprised I even got that score.)
Composite-30 (Went up from a 26! I’m so excited to be in the 30’s club!)

I’m a sophomore, so I hope I can make an even better score.

Any internationals seen their scores yet?
