hmm…ok

Someone else had posted in the score thread that -1 was 34. I guess not.

Hmm, I always assumed the curve was RELATIVE to those who take the test. Just because it was curved that way for the Oct. test does not mean it will be for the Dec. test, even if they are the same. This is possible because the students who test in Oct. may be different than those who test in Dec., so they will change the curve to match this. GRANTED, there maybe no change, because really, what are the chance of the testers being that different, but then again, it might. ACT and SAT want the nice bell curve for each test based on the scores.

No. The curve is predetermined - the test taking population has no impact whatsoever. The curve will be the exact same as the October 2008 one.

^ Sorry, I was wrong. I just checked myself. Well, sucks for those who bombed Reading or Science. :P

I lucked out because I took the test in October 08 and December 09. I’m sure my score will be pretty good. :D

Why would ACT use the same test twice? I think a complaint needs to be filed or something, this is stupid. They should offer the test fewer times each year if they have to repeat tests. This will cause a score imbalance. I think this is ridiculous.

If there’s going to be another recycled test, I think your best bet is the April ACT. It would only make sense that an ACT’s second appearance is on test day in which copies can be ordered. But of course, there may be complaints about this test, so who knows what will happen.

Wow… That is really unfair. I know at least 5 people who took it in October, and now in December. I should really take it more if they recycle tests. lol

i took a look at all of the scores posted from the october 2008 act since this was the same test. According to the scores shown, a minus one in all four section is at worst a 35. This does not account for a minus one possibly being a 36. I will post all the scores that were reported

English: 36/35/34/33/32/31
Math: 36/35/34/33/32/31
Reading:36/35/34/33/32/31
Science: 36/35/34/33/__/31

This should give you an idea of how the curve will be. Although i dont know what you have to miss in order to get these scores, it is possible to get all of the above listed, assuming they use the same curve.

Oh my gosh, there’s no 32 for Science!? Hopefully it’ll be because a 33 is a minus 3 and a minus 4 >.>

Which I doubt.

Vault, are you sure there’s no 32 for Science? I was expecting 31-33 on Science, and I would be super happy if I could get 32 because IDK if I did well enough for 33.

I’d actually be happy with a curve like this. I got a 32 last time >.>…I hope I get a 33-35 this time.

nluu do you know if theres a -1 or -2 36 on that science curve??

from what i saw there was no 32… it is not given that they will use the same curve again though…

I don’t think -2 science could be a 36. It usually isnt even 35.

This curve may be more fair because they have already had a giant experimental pool(October 2008). In Oct 08, the curve was predetermined.

OK, but what makes you think that prior test would result in a “more fair” curve for a recent test??
looks like most of the posts from that prior test show that people scored higher than they thought they would and test was not very difficult according to many posts…

I didn’t have the opportunity to take the writing test, but I was told by a friend who did that the prompt was the same as it was when I took it in June… interesting that they would be so relatively close together…

anyone know what the actual curve was for December
