It’s going to be the exact same curve as March 2010 (USA) because the test (int’l) was the same.
Hence the curve is predetermined and as unfair as it sounds, there is nothing we can do about it.
It’s really not fair though that the Nov curve was so lenient as compared to Oct and Dec. How is it ‘standardised’ then? It’s keeping 2300’ers in 2200s and so on. :(

CR curve will probably be this-
*Compiled from looking at past March 2010 discussion threads.

67- 800
66- 800
65- 780
64- 760(assuming as no record)
63- 740
62- 720
61 - 710
That’s it for >700 I think-- unless there’s a 700 somewhere too. (I couldn’t find anyone with 700 in past threads)

Guys if i go down from 670 on CR to a … 500 :S… could collegeboard cancel my old marks:S?

Hmmm this is not fair? uh huh? First time takers don’t know anything about March or Oct questions and the curve is terrible. Grrrr…CB shoud stop going green!

I have the crappiest luck ever. I always take the tests with bad curves. It’s a good thing I didn’t get a single wrong for M, or else I wouldn’t be able to pull an 800.

^Yeah I so agree. I took the Oct which had March 2008 curve (which was aweful) and now this one. I mean the curve’s okaaayy, but the other curves are so generous that it feels so unfair. I think the only section I can get an 800 is in WR up from a 780 as I made the stupidest mistake in math and two mistakes confirmed in CR. And there’s no telling about that seeing that boring essay topic.

Bdw, what examples did you guys use in essay?
I used Indian economy before and after 1991 (pre/post liberalisation) and the book The Other Boleyn Girl. Filled up the two pages with good argument, but I just don’t feel it was as invigorating as my Oct essay.

Err, what?

Did we all have the same essay topic? I had one about limited choices.

Same, pretty sure there’s multiple topics though.

I just rattled some stuff off about philosophy and government intervention in choice throughout history and how when people have been given more freedom to choose (glasnost and perestroika in the USSR) it’s led to better circumstances.

I actually think my writing score will be higher than my Math and CR even though it’s been my weakest section in my practices due to the curve for this paper.

Yeah, all internationals have same WR topic.

“Should people have limited choices?”

Borrring.

Jackinthebox- Yeah, govt stuff/ economics seemed perfect for it innit? I used a mixture of govt policy and economics as first ex. Second was more about Mary Boleyn not knwoing any other life apart from court and later discovering country life. I hope it goes well.

Yeah, was a pretty easy topic to get and was perfect for historical examples which seem to be the easiest to use well in my opinion.

Just still annoyed how it can be deemed fair to recycle a paper considering collegeboard has this whole “fairness” policy. I would like to retake the SAT in January but all the test centres are full up here in England so I’m going to have to book in for May, but I guess it’s not all doom and gloom seeing as I still have a lot of time before early action next November.

It is not uncommon for CB to recycle domestic tests for international students. Of course these are tests from non QAS (released tests) months like March so nobody really knows the material. I admit though that recycling March 2010 was stupidity. What if someone sat for it in the states in March and retook this Saturday?

Check out Standby testing Jack.

Was thinking about it, how often do test takers who are going on standby get refused a place? Would rather not drive an hour and a a half just to be turned back!

You can check out with the center a week before the SAT if they think they would have space or not. See, they can make an estimate and the list of students generally reaches them by then. Also, generally a few spaces are reserved for standby. Back here where I live (India), I’ve seen around 5-8 people doing standby everytime. I didn’t see anyone getting refused.
At 6:30 in the morning. I can understand your pain. :p

Yeah I think it will be worth a try then, were quite a few spaces at my testing centre and maybe 3 or so people went on standby despite the fact that the centre was meant to be “full”. I’ll give it a shot then if I get any sections <700 which I think will be the case, I’d rather get 700+ now than wait 5 months for me to forget all the test technique.

does anyone remember the question y=mx? when y increases does x increase or decrease? i thought increase but everyone is telling me decrease

21st December, and yeah reckon that’s what a lot of people are feeling!

I had the limiting choices essay too! I missed 2 grid ins on math! I hope I can still get a 750. I know -2 last time was a 740, but I hope the curves somehow aren’t identical. Critical reading better have a more lenient curve. I don’t think I missed more than 5, so that might push the likelihood of getting a 700. 680 would be fine if I got at least 1520 on math and writing combined. Writing was very easy. I might have missed that egyptian question in section 14, but my essay hopefully will be sufficient to get an 800. I hope I got a 2200.

^It said that y increased as x increased, so m>0.

Yes, I am going to update the list in a couple of days. DH will obviously help. And yes the CB does repeat words.
