December ACT 2008 English

ah....i put had began..there goes my 36.

what was the "have allowed" and "had built" question?

had gone out of style or went out of style? i put had gone, wasn't sure

I put had gone....not certain.

If the phrase had "by _____ time" in it, I'm pretty sure it's had gone. "Went" is used when saying "during" or a specific time period. That's how I've always remembered it.

It was "had gone"

Can anyone explain grammatically why it was "had gone" and not "had went"?

''Had went'' is not grammatically correct.

It is like saying ''Had ate'' which is wrong. It should be ''Had eaten'' just like ''Had gone''/

In the Mars passage: the best choice for a transition was to replace "the US has competed blah-blah" with "the US governement has founded the space agency in ..."?

In the Mars passage: the best choice for a transition was to replace "the US has competed blah-blah" with "the US governement has founded the space agency in ..."?

NO I think it's "this negetaive idea dissipated as time went on or something" because it had to make sense with the preceding paragraph which talked about the seemingly negative connotations about mars

i actually got wiht gcf got

hmmm, makes sense.
"the US governement has founded..." could be the first sentence of a passage, but is not much transitional.
It was the only one I was agonizing over.

edit: @spazattack - how would you reason?

I got what tsh got cause I thought it matched up with what it was talking about before.

I got what tsh got.

i dont exactly remember what the sentences said but i remember it started talking about NASA and you needed a sentence transitioning into that: "US created a space agency....."

yeah but they mention NASA after the first sentence, which does not go with the preceding paragraph. The question wanted a clear transition from the paragraph before not to the one after

I also got what tsh got. To me it offered the most transition, which the question was looking for.

what were all the choices for that transition problem?

there was a question using "then" or "than," anyone remember the answer?

I put "than" for that question, what did everyone else put?
