December ACT 2008 Science

They didn't even have the opposing arguments one and most were graphs. It was easy.

@ GPAx213 only guessing on 4 isn't bad at all. Most people had to guess on 10 or more.

Yeah right. Not everyone would know whether or not a low recombination factor means two genes are linked.

We just learned ALL of the alpha, beta, and gamma decay in IB chem YESTERDAY!!! I show owned tht section :). I thought i epically failed the crossover one, but, for te most part, felt it was generally an easy test... Finished all of it!!! (barely) :) I also got 2(c/D) mainly for the logic that it's going to move REALLY fast and it won't be tht fast if it was 2D/c. That could take over an our depending on the location of the ball

It was without a doubt impossible...Ill be so thankful if I get a 23 or better...

It was so hard...

--AL

are you a professor of chemistry/biology/physics at Harvard petlee1 by any chance?

lol

for you maybe it was, but this time it was undeniably much harder than on previous ACTs.

Plus, posting this was a d-bag move dude. I'm not offended in the slightest, but basically what you are doing is insulting everyone's intelligence on here.

what's a crown fire??? lol how were we expected to know that? (was it in the passage because i just briefly skimmed it)

I thought it was generally easy, too. but there were some ones i didnt know. for example, there was one crossover question and the question about the needles and if it was a crown fire (I put that it was a surface fire cuz of the needles had a high whatever).

^Lucky! You probably did well. I put 2(c/D) as a guess =)

Wait.. let me rephrase that. I didn't even read 4 questions and bubbled in C in all of them. It was in the P1, P2, M2 thingy section. I understood the experiment right when they called the time. =(

well I'm in AP bio and honors physics so I recently went over the crossing over/projectile ones, the first couple were standard stuff and easy. U just had to look at the graphs and tables and ignore the reading.

Ah I know! When I read that i was lime OMG!! YES! YES! YES!!!!!!!!! lol and im 99% sure it was 2(c/D), but that was a HARD last question! took a lot of logically thinking that took time. Luckily, i had tht time cuz of the decay question!

what was the answer to the crown fire one? Was it like B or A?

science was sooo hard today =/
I was kinda excited to get a better score then we got to the science and cause of it ill prob get same composite.... =/

^ Yeah that one took me a while to understand, and that's part of what screwed me. I took way too long on that section.

What annoyed me was that I had to bubble in C for the last questions on the baseball section. Cuz I understood that one there just wasn't enough time.

^U got to specify

I don't think any of you will remember this, but did anyone put down mostly C's for the P1, P2, and M2 section?

Yeah dude. First of all, when there are 35 min to answer 40 questions, one is able to spend just about a minute on each question. I found that it took me 30 seconds/question just to read most questions and their answers. Forget the time needed to calculate the correct answer. That was my 8th ACT (6 practice-2 real) and that was the most difficult science section I've seen by a long stretch. And to come on here and say that it, and anything for that matter, was common sense is insulting to people who have a hard time with certain subjects. I don't care but some people may take that personally.

I was hoping to get a only a 29 or 30 composite and the science section has now made that unrealistic!!!! WOO HOOO
