My junior is looking at the ACT test schedule. Is it a good idea to take it in December after a prep course? Too early? Better to wait until Spring when he has more school under his belt? Any advice would be great.
With super scoring, the more the merrier. But test burnout is real.
My kid - one took 3, the other 6.
My son took the ACT and SAT in December of his junior year after an 8-week prep course. He was satisfied with the results and glad that he did not wait until spring.
My D23 studied in the fall and took the ACT Dec of her junior year. It worked out for her, and she has mentioned several times since how glad she was to be done with it. If she had needed to take it again, the Dec test was one that provided the TIR which would have helped target her prep for a future test, so if that is true again this year, that’s one reason the Dec test can be a good one to try.
Thanks to everyone who replied so far. Does anyone else have an opinion?
My D took the ACT in December of junior year after a school sponsored prep course. She would have been one and done except we learned after the fact that she had to sit for the state sponsored test for graduation in the spring. It was a big relief to her to have it over with early and then not have pressure for the second test. (FWIW, she did worse overall but her super score went up).
