December SAT Int. test

(sigh) So I got the anachronism right but I put languorous instead of vituperative (I didn't know what either of them meant although I had a feeling languorous was something about sound or whatever)

Flame: I used Princeton Review's way. Since it is the hardest of that section, they EXPECT you to choose something related to sound, so I eliminated languorous immediately. It was actually the first choice I eliminated. I was so cheap.

But I am seriously considering canceling. I am using probability to calculate what is the possibility for me to get >650.

Well, I went to this course here and the teacher told us that whenever we have no idea what the correct answer is we should put the word which sounds most "weird" and "bizzare". Why didn't I trust her on that one??!?!?!

P.S. It was only my first SAT and I'm a junior. Two months to finish my "learn the SAT dictionary" work. Only a few letters of the alphabet left (one of them is "v" unfortunatelly)

Do you guys think the curve will be hard or lenient? I think it might be tough... I have so many unsure CR questions.

Me too.

Do you generally suck at CR? I know I do.

Damn, TOEFL Reading's so much easier (got 30/30)

I hope the curve is lenient ... I took the test in May last time ... the passages then were pretty easy so the curve was pretty hard. But this time the passages weren't that easy ... especially (I Feel) the art-society one and the computer intelligence one. :(
I hope this goes okay ... :(
I hardly remember my CR answers ... but I already got -4 where SCs are concerned :( I was hoping this would be my last SAT ... :(

I took the SAT in October and the writing curve was HARD.

650 - 12 wrong/780 - 1 wrong/710 - 8 wrong (12/12 on essay)
TOEFL: 103/120 (27 on reading, 27 on listening, 27 on writing, 22 on speaking - shocking!)

I am going to retake TOEFL in February. I am just not that good at passage comprehension. I actually feel confident toward the vocab (sentence completion) now. I might retake SAT in May. Should I cancel my score?

I am thinking of the following worst scenario:

CR -5~8, Math -2~3, Writing -3~4 (10/12 on essay)
What would that raw score give me? If colleges superscore, I'll ignore math for now.

does anyone remember what the s/c questions were for the disney passage?

i have a feeling that the conceded/defused annoying actor question was in the passage, which would make our debating useless.

I think the conceded/defused answer is right. The Disney passage is experimental anyway, so who cares lah~~~

I am so happy that the Disney passage is experimental. By the way, the CR has a curve so lenient that you can get 4 wrong and still get a perfect score.

Does anyone remember the one question about government doesn't like people's effort to make friends with others or something?

The lenient CR curve is the October one. XD

First time TOEFL: 30/29/27/27 Total: 113. I'm not retaking for obvious reasons :)

SAT Dec 1 first time will be a disaster on CR and W. I think I did good on M (hopefully!!!!)

P.S. If your speaking's that low it might be because of accent or nervousness. Where are you from?

i know...and i did well on that CR, but i cancelled because of W...arrrgh

30/29/30/29

Speaking is easy, I have a natural British accent.

I come from Taiwan but I have no Chinese accent. I have no idea how they mark it.

Anyway back to the SAT. I want to discuss!!!

Well, I don't know then. I know it took me 10 years to perfect my "no accent" speaking because our language is very "tough" (we stress on "r", "g" and so on) whereas in English these sounds are like... milder (like, just hinted rather than said).

Cuong: wow 118! Great score!

Back to SAT: did any of you have problems with the Zimbabwe women text? I think it was the hardest one. One question about the daughter's laughter was very tricky. I chose either irrelevant or a word meaning "in the middle of something", I don't remember which one.

Actually, if that good score can be transfered to Math, I shall appreciate, I hate English already, do no good for future. Math is more important... hic, hic...

Does anyone remember the one question about government doesn't like people's effort to make friends with others or something?

It's in the Disney section I guess.

Yah that was irreverent. I said that she thinks people should do something fulfilling or something forgot what question that was.

Are you folks speaking of SAT International,...? I know none

^ This is the SAT international thread.

Is that Disney passge appearing upon one of the practice test or something I cannot remember exactly, but I swear I did read something like that, just cannot remember where it is??
