December score < November score... :'(

So I took the reasoning test in November for the first time, and got 2100 (M 790, W 670, CR 640). It wasn't bad, I'd say, 'cause I know that I'm not even gonna apply to the Ivies or others that have a single digit admission rate.

And I took it again 'cause I thought a score of 2200 would be much nicer (... insatiable need for higher score...) and after the test I felt pretty good and it felt easier than the November one.

I stayed up til 5 a.m. (when the scores FINALLY showed up online) and DUN DUN DUN... 2040 (M 740, W 690, CR 610). Now I feel BAD. Beyond bad.

Am I really totally screwed 'cause I got a lower score the second time I took it? And if I send the first score only, can universities still access my second score somehow? Is this going to play a huge role in my admission? Should I take the SAT reasoning again and make sure that I get a better score?

AHHHHHHH D:

If you have not yet sent any score, check if they allow score choice and if they do select the first score. They won’t access your second score that way. But some colleges have computers that superscore (admission officers do not even get to see each sitting score, they just see your higher score in each section. In this case, you actually will have a better score, like 2120).
If you already have, it’s OK, I don’t think they see this score.

Anyway you should’nt worry too much. 60 total points correspond less or more to maybe 4 or 5 more mistakes. It really doesn’t make a huge difference, though it’s probably not that good to show you get worse.
I don’t think you should take it again.

how do u score consistently 700+ on math can u plz help me

Hey just a question, how many questions did you miss on your Nov SAT Math section to get a 790?

This December test felt a LOT harder than the previous ones I have taken (real and practice). There were so many words that I hadn’t even seen before, so that even though I spent days studying vocab, I went down from a 690 to a 670 on CR… The math section felt a bit harder, but my score stayed the same. The writing section, however, seemed about the same as usual, so I improved 90 points.

Oh and I’d send just the first one. They can’t see the second one unless you select it. Also, depending on which school you send it to, they might take the highest from each one and you’ll have a 2120.

@ BassPlayer08 - Do you think I can directly ask the admission officer if they take superscores?

@ sat4lyfe - Being Asian (well, not 100%, but still, for the most part I am) it was so frustrating when I took my first practice test and got 680 on the math section. But I realized that SAT Reasoning math section is more like an english section… the words are quite twisted. Mastering each type of questions (not so hard) and paying careful attention to the question and what it’s asking for (harder to do because of time limit) are two things that I’d say helped me improve.

@ SpaceUnion - I didn’t get any wrong, I omitted one question… not that I remember, but that’s what it says on the score report :S

@ Dnerd - I don’t know. It felt worse because I personally felt it was easier! I feel horrible anyway, though :(
