Decided on law school late. Chances

I'm completely new to the law school game and have only just been reading up on it recently. Correct me if I seem ignorant in certain matters.

I graduated from an Ivy in 2008. My GPA is 3.9, LSAT 180. Triple majored in Economics, Philosophy, and Classics. I was awarded honors in each. My grades in the first two years were rather bad, but I got straight A's in my final two years (I suddenly started working hard). I've heard stories about the median grade at top law schools being 3.95 or so. Is my GPA too low?

But my biggest worry is my CV. I haven't exactly been doing anything spectacular after college, nor have I interned anywhere. And I just decided to attend law school, which is why I'm rather empty on the law-related activities side too. I didn't do any traditional extracurriculars at college - no leadership, no clubs, no work experience. I wanted (and still want) to be a novelist and filled all my spare time with reading and writing. I've been working hard on my writing over the past year, which is the only thing I'm proud of, and I do believe that some law schools will like that. But it bothers me that I do not have a big-name company under my belt, or a long list of activities to cite in my resume.

I'll be applying to the top schools. What are my chances? What should I do till then? Like I said, I'm new to the field, and am currently really confused as to where I stand.

Listen up, if you have a 180 LSAT and a 3.9 GPA, the Ivies will bite. Don’t worry too hard right now. Send it in properly and you are all set.

I’d apply to ten of the top fourteen and see what happens.

flame 10 char

Obvious ■■■■■.

Nobody scores a 180 on the LSAT and also credibly claims to be “new to the law school game”.

It would be impossible to have a 3.9 GPA even if one had straight A minuses for the first two years and then had straight A’s for the last two years. “Rather bad” grades indeed.

Don’t feed the ■■■■■.

what a fruitcake…

dude…just get into harvard and get it over with, no need 2 brag haha

1 post count. 180 LSAT. Triple Major. 3.9 GPA (with 2 bad years). Feigning Ignorance to the law school system.

Wait a second. These replies are plain offensive.

 1. I did get a 180 after several tries.
 2. My bad years weren’t terrible. I got scattered B’s and B+'s, but the others were mostly A’s. And I took two extra summers of classes after my sophomore year, so that’s how I pushed my GPA up. I called them bad because some of my grades were way below the median.
 3. I’m not American and my country does not use the American Law system. I completely shoved law school aside during my undergraduate years because of this. Recently, I’ve been thinking about working in the US, or maybe just use my time in law school to work on my writing.

I can’t believe I heeded a friend who told me to seek advice here.

Did you know that particle emissions are not detected within the black hole, but in the “empty” space just outside the black hole’s event horizon? Great heavens!

What does “several tries” mean? Did you take the LSAT multiple times?

In any case I do think your lack of EC’s will harm you, but it’s hard to predict how much. Otherwise you’d be a lock at HLS. As it is, apply to your favorite ten of the top fourteen and see what happens.

And if you’re a flame, I don’t care. It’s an interesting hypothetical.
