I'd like some opinions, please. Which do you think is a better choice between Carnegie Mellon Qatar for Computer Science and NUS (National University of Singapore) for Mechanical Engg. I've got a 25% scholarship at CMUQ. For the rest, I've applied for interest free loans from qatar foundation. At NUS, I'm still waiting for their scholarship decision. I'm applying for their financial aid in the mean time. There too, ill probably have to sign some kind of bond. Which do you think is a better university, education wise? And which country do you think will have better, more interesting employment options?

I know the SCS at CMU Pittsburgh is very highly regarded but will the Qatar Campus have the same quality of education, and will I have the same (kind of) opportunities?

Both are great schools, but for cmuq., even with 25% scholarship, it’s still going to be a hefty sum of money. If u are looking for exposure, cmuq definitely will give u more life experiences and new intakes.
If cost is not an issue, and you have an adventurous heart, why not try the less conventional and rigid learning structure at cmuq

Thanks for the input Newsweek. The cost at cmuq will be a bit higher but Ill be taking financial aid loans (interest free). Qatar foundation offers a paid service option where you work in qatar to have your loans forgiven (which many ppl opt for). So I guess cost isn’t a factor in a way.

I’m also leaning towards cmuq and I think it’ll be a better overall experience. What do you mean by ‘rigid learning structure’? And do you have any idea abt jobs in qatar etc. And where cmuq grads end up working?

nus is good but i think cmuq is better and the degree you will be getting will be identical to the original one in pittsburg so i would go for cmuq

Thanks for ur opinion ash. yes, the CS degree will be the same as the one for SCS in Pittsburgh. But I will have to stay in Qatar following graduation for at least 3 years? What do you think abt job prospects in Qatar vs Singapore?
