Deciding between majors, and minors help?

So, I’m starting school in less than a week as an undeclared. I am considering at the moment a major in psychology or arts and minoring in a few languages. I’m more of a renaissance learner, and personally want to learn as much as possible, but i know most colleges want you to pick one major, and that’s all you’re supposed to do…
any advice at all would be awesome.

going to CU Denver if that helps for anything

According to their website (http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/CLAS/clas-advising/FAQs/Pages/FAQsaboutyourdegree.aspx), CU Denver does allow double majors and double degrees, so you shouldn’t have a problem pursuing multiple interests, whether through that or through majors and minors, which most colleges encourage.

Actually, I would say that a well-rounded learner should probably just pick one major, although that sounds counterintuitive. I was kind of that student myself - I was interested in a whole lot of different things. One single major actually gives you a great deal of flexibility in your schedule; you don’t have to satisfy the requirements of different departments, deal with combating schedules and finagling your schedule so you sequence classes right in two or three different areas. So having one major allows you to fulfill the requirements of the college while giving you the freedom to take classes in other areas. In college I majored in psychology, but I took classes in Japanese, theater, biology, math, history, philosophy, French, and probably some other areas I’m forgetting.
