Deciding Between Tufts and Notre Dame

Hi, I’m a student from England, I’m having a really hard time trying to decide between Notre Dame and Tufts.
I’m looking at the alumni network and graduate school prospects. I also want to make sure I can have some sort of social life and not be stressed all the time. Also wondering about the area surrounding the universities.
If anyone can give any input on their experience at either university is highly appreciated

NOTRE DAME!! Fighting Irish!!

Both are outstanding schools academically.

The area surrounding Notre Dame isn’t that nice, while Tufts offers easy access to Boston.

Two very different schools. Notre Dame is conservative. I believe the college even has a curfew, and all dorms are single sex. There are rules. The rules may be attractive to you. Or not. Take a look at this. https://www.collegemagazine.com/10-university-notre-dame-quirks/
It’s in South Bend, Indiana. Not a great college area. The college has big-time sports., if you like that.

The Tufts student body is liberal, like many top U.S. schools. It is on the edge of Boston, with all the opportunities available there. Also, Medford/Somerville are active towns within walking distance.

Two things I always suggest to students trying to decide between two colleges (assuming the finances are equal):

  1. Investigate all the course requirements and make a spreadsheet of all the courses you will be required to take at each school.
  2. Read the last six months-worth of their student newspapers.

OP: I think the first response to your thread is important to note as you will experience that type of sports fanaticism at one of the schools, but not at the other.
