Hello, I'm actually asking for a close friend of mine. She's been struggling figuring out what major to take, but isn't so comfortable seeking online advice. She wants to be able to help people that have issues like anxiety, bipolar, have trouble with stress, and so on, because she's gone through a lot herself. She doesn't want to diagnose and prescribe medication, but give advice and alternate ways for people to help themselves creatively, etc. If anyone has ever watched "Blake Bliss" on Youtube, she wants to give that sort of inspiring help to people. Is there anything she should be looking for to major in, or classes she should take, or even a particular career she should look at?

What about counseling psychology (only psychiatrists, who are doctors, can prescribe medication, although often counselors and psychologists work in a group that has a doctor on staff)? Especially if she wanted to work with teens/kids, that would be a great match for her.
