Hey everybody Im kinda of stuck in a crossroads in my career path. Im very interested in the R&D field of medical devices/robotics. From the research that Ive done so far you pretty much need a Phd for any R&D work. My education background is a BS in ET so I do have a knowledge of basic electronics, analog/digital, and C programming. I start U of H in Spring '11 so it gives me some time to decide on if I want to go the EE or ME route in the medical device industry. Im a veteran so my BS and MS is paid for I just need to decide on my education path. I was thinking to get my foot in the door towards R&D work I should start out as a design engineer or maybe a systems engineer for a couple of yrs. I havent met with an advisor yet so I dont know what courses from my BS may transfer over. My plan is for a BS in either EE/ME and hopefully with what classes transfer over I can sneek in another semester of classes in the end. For example if I choose EE for my BS what would be the top 5 ME classes I should consider and vice versa if I chose ME for my BS top 5 EE classes. I still have some other questions to ask but I figure I can start out with this thread first.
Thanks.
