Deciding on which college to apply ED

How do you decide on the ED college? I have like atleast 5 dream colleges, and my gut instinct changes everyday. Should I pick a college that is quite a reach to increase my chances or should I pick a college whose stats I match to virtually ensure an admission?

(I am an international student requiring aid)

You should just apply to the college you most want to go to, which might be a reach.

You require financial aid

To be honest, I think it would be extremely stupid to apply ED.

I agree, don’t apply ED unless you have a clear first choice, if the college offers early action, do that but not ED

Why should I not apply ED ?

As an international needing aid there are no virtually sure schools. And depending on the level of school you’re looking at, ED may not be a boost at all.

With colleges poorer than usual right now, this year will be exceptionally hard for internationals needing aid and especially good for those not needing it. Lack of funding will force them to get most of their international diversity as they did in the past–with full pay internationals.

And if you’re from a country the colleges you are interested in get many applicants from, you would have to be off the charts amazing for an ED acceptance. They will wait and see the whole pool during RD before they commit the limited funds they have for internationals.

So IMO, your best bet would be to ED a school where you would be a very top student unless you’re from a small African nation. But don’t ED any school that does not meet 100% of need for internationals. And you must be sure you have a very clear idea of what your expected contribution will be and that your family can afford it.

I’m from the Seychelles which is a small island nation in Africa in the Indian Ocean. I had to travel to Mauritius just to give the SAT coz it isn’t offered here. How much does my location help me?

And, because you seem not to understand the “ED” concept well enough to recognize that the #3 response was correct the first time it was posted.

The ED mechanism exists for students who absolutely love a school so much, they would (and could) attend regardless of cost, financial aid, or the decisions of other schools.

From Sychelles? Apply ED

If you are black your location helps a lot.
