Deciding which AP's to take?

I need to sign up for my AP exams tommorrow, and I'm wondering which AP's I should/should not take. I know Rice doesn't take distribution credit for English, so I won't be taking that. So far, this is what it looks like:

I am taking:
Phys C: Mech
Phys C: E&M
Calc AB
Macroecon
Comp Sci A

I am not taking:
Gov't (Didn't learn anything, horrible teacher and horrible book)
Engilsh Lit (No distribution credit)

So, even though I didn't learn anything in Government (just memorized stuff the day before the tests), would it be worth it to buy a review book and take it, or would the credit not really help me? I'll likely be doing engineering or economics at Rice, btw.

I have the same question - is it worth it to take AP exams for subjects that don't get distribution credit and are not part of your major?

I think not, unless you are a junior. In that case, it looks good if you have some 4's and 5's to report on your application.

Assuming you're a senior (if you're a junior, some more 4s and 5s on AP tests looks good on your application) there's no real reason to take an AP test that will not count for something that will not go to your major or to distribution. In that case, all that you get is a nice little line on your transcript listing that credit was transfered in because of an AP test. I believe that counts to your total hours, but unless you plan on getting out in under 4 years or being a total slacker while here, total hours aren't really an issue.

But Government does count for distribution credit, right? So I should take it?

As of last year, it didn't:

Oh, never mind. Less studying for me then :)
