We are expecting that D’s decision will be mailed out by February 15. Can’t wait to find out, but unfortuately we will be out of town all week on vacation. I have read that people who were accepted got a big blue envelope with “congratulations” written all over it. So whoever picks up our mail would see her {positive??} decision before we do. Or would be able to tell if she didn’t in.

Hmmmm. Must decide how to do this. Please confirn about the envelopes!

If you really don't want this person to find out, you could have the post office hold all mail until you return...there is a yellow card you can fill out the week before you leave.....So lucky you have the week off!!

hi...we're torn between wanting to find out ASAP and not. If we have the post office hold it, my daughter would have to wait all of Sunday and until Monday after school to find out. If we have a friend pick up the mail, she will be able to get it on Sunday. Leaning towards having friend collect our mail. Just wanted to find out the status of the envelope before we made our final decision.

so does that mean that:
1) decisions will DEFINITELY be mailed out BY feb 15th?
and
2) all envelopes with acceptances have "Congratulations" on them?

just wanted someone to clarify...
thanks in advance :)

OK, if accepted the envelope will be a big blue envelope with Congratulations on the front. I know it is so for ED applicants but I am not positive of that for RD applicants.

My son was a Blue Ribbon applicant last year (no longer called that, it seems). There was no mistaking his mid-February letter as an acceptance. It was big and bright blue and said Congratulations across the front. We sure were thrilled to see it! Good luck to all those waiting.

It was mentioned to D during her interview in August. She applied RD and she had everything in by mid to late October. She called the school in December and asked about the Feb 15 decision. They said that her app was being reviewed and that they would change her status to "invited applicant." Probably if she had not had her application in early, they might have sent her a mailing about being an invited applicant. I think the application fee was supposed to be waived or something. But we had paid already and she was just glad to get an earlier decision.

Someone else said in another thread that to be an "invited applicant who, if the applicant used the Brandeis online app by Dec 15, they would get an answer by Feb 15" you had to be from outside of Massachusetts and had to have done at least two things to express interest in Brandeis by the time they were choosing the invited applicants. I don't know/don't remember if this was a guess or if the poster had inside knowledge on this. My daughter was lucky enough to considered an "invited applicant who, if the applicant used the Brandeis online app by Dec 15, they would get an answer by Feb 15" so she should hear soon, which will be nice.

my D applied using the "invited applicant." we are out of state, and she had been to the school twice (once for a tour, once for an interview) so I don't know about whether the "show two things to express interest in Brandeis" is part of the criteria, but she would have met those things, so it is possible. We had known about the blue ribbon applications for previous years, so we were hoping she would get something like that. She got notice that she would be receiving the special "invited student" application back early in the fall.

Snail Mail only, you think? Some of the schools have set a date for admissions decisions and while they mailed they also emailed on the date. No one has mentioned that here. We were hoping there would be an email. Anyone know?

Also, the "invitation" was not only for out of state students. My daughter interviewed there and about a week later got this invite to apply early and hear early. We are hoping that means that there are some 'positive' leanings towards her! Also on pins and needles here but trying not to get too crazy about it.

Oh. shamefaced I called and asked way back in January actually. I knew Brandeis was a serious contender w/my D, and if their open house was going to fall during her spring break, I wanted to at least get in on my calendar to ensure I didn't purchase plane tix somewhere else on the same date -- on the off-chance she was accepted.

I thought the date was repeated on the admissions letter, but it appears it was actually only on the scholarship letter. No doubt they're planning to send out a separate notice closer to the date.
