got my rejection letter

ccsdavt, I know you only need to pay if you are accepted, but my question is, will we have the opportunity/time to examine the financial aid package? The cost of CMU is not in our range, if no aid/scholarships are offered, and $800 is a lot to put upfront in hopes that the package meets our needs. Here is where it all gets confusing–D’s letter says she must commit and pay $800 within 72 hours of receiving an acceptance, yet the FAQs in the letter and on the website say that the financial aid package will not likely be received until 7 days after the acceptance. In addition, the line that says “waitlist decisions are not need blind” has me worried.

@annie43 – This is from the CMU website:

Are students on the waiting list eligible for financial aid?

Yes. If you submitted the required financial aid documents by February 15 or soon after, you’ll receive a financial aid notification letter within a week of receiving your admission decision. If you haven’t applied for financial aid, please do so right away. We encourage students to remain active on the waiting list only after having received and reviewed their financial aid notification. If you’re admitted from the waiting list, your financial aid package will become effective upon enrollment. Because resources are limited, waiting list decisions are not need blind.

All the waitlist FAQs are here:

Waitlist notifications are made in early May.

Just got the mail and have a FAT envelope staring at me can’t wait for my son to get home to open it up! (also have a large envelope from Notre Dame was not expecting that today!)

i m jealous of ppl getting fat letters…i must wait another 9 hrs,…

Did anyone in MA get theirs?

Anyone on the west coast get theirs…

Waitlisted :(

Accepted to both Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as the Information Systems Program. Apparently they also offered me a place in Humanities Scholars Program; anyone know what that’s about? They said that they only accept 20 kids for that every year, but I figure it can’t be that competitive since CMU isn’t known for Humanities.

Has anyone who has the financial aid eligibility letter on their checklist been accepted??

^^Almost same here (meant post 174)- except DC was accepted to Dietrich and Tepper, as well as the scholar program. Two questions: 1) There’s is no mention whatsoever about FA. I knew it was a long shot of getting any, but still no mention at all? Or is FA info coming in separately? 2) Out of curiosity, is the $800 deposit standard, or does CMU ask for despoit of different amounts from different applicants?

Got my fat letter! :D

Got home…
Got my acceptance letter.
Cannot believe it.

@dekachin oh! I’m from Ohio. I believe the postal service has a lovely webpage somewhere where you can get a shiny map that’s been coloured according to typical arrival dates based on where the package originated?
