Decision: Mount Holyoke College, BU, Marylan Park, SUNY Stony Brook

I am a transfer sophomore from China. I have accepted to these four universities. I major in physics. BU accepted me in college of engineering. I would like to see some opinion from you! Thank you!

I don't know about the SUNY, but I know people who go to those other schools and I have been on those campuses before. As a intl transfer it may be best to go to BU or Maryland College Park as both are close to/in cities and may allow you to adjust easier. BU is the better out of the two in my opinion. Plus BU is in the college area in Boston close to other schools such as Notheastern, Boston College, MIT, Harvard etc. However Mt Holyoke prob one of the best looking campuses I have ever seen. I was looking at prep schools in the area and went past it a couple times, and it certainly caught my eye. I don't know about you, but if I were a girl I don't think I'd want to go to a all girls college. The girls who go there say they get up and go to class without having to worry much about what they look like, or have the distraction of boys. However it is about 5 mins drive away from Amherst and UMass, if you want that dose of male company. Plus Amherst is one of those college towns that cater to mainly students. But it truely is out in the middle of nowhere and may be hard at first if you're not familar with the general area. I think BU would be best overall between the location in a city, close to other colleges, and campus. However Mt Holyoke is certainly a college where you'll be able to get that true college campus feel.

Mt.Holyoke deft. is the right choice if you love the close relationship among all the girls and you'd love to work hard! You will have a great college life if you are really passionate at MoHo. btw, can we talk about the transfer to moho?? I will apply it for 09 fall transfer as sophomore. :)
Best of luck with your decision.

haha, Thanks a lot! It is Maryland college Park(I write wrong before).

The most important thing I consider is which school will help me to find a better job or go to a better graduate school. Actually, I do not want to be a scientist in the future. If go to graduate school I want to change a major.

I have gone to MHC yesterday. Yes, it is soooo beautiful. We can talk about transfer to moho. What's your question?

Haha, tiaotiaotu, ur already in U.S.? Yup, I dont want to be scientist either!! um, what's ur current major?? um, okay, here is the thing. May I know ur SAT score(i think LAC regards scores quite a lot)? or maybe u could share more about ur backgrouds, such as gpa or ECs? If u feel any inconvenient, please pm me, thx very much!! And we will talk more about the transfer essays if you dont mind, I'm totally a mess now, dunno how to explain how much i love the moho and really want to get in...thank you for your time. please please keep in touch!!

I had a hs friend who went to MHC as a econ major and she ended up working for Wachovia. Honestly, I think of all the colleges you were accepted to, MHC will probably provide the most professional connections and probably the greatest opportunities for graduate study. BU is great too. I had another friend who went to BU and she went to BC for grad school. So if I were you I would choose between those two. I would probably give the slight edge to BU for the same reasons as Selk: it's in the city and you'll have access to all the great Boston colleges.

Yeah like I live right outside of Boston and bout 75% of my HS now goes to Northeastern, BC, BU, MIT, Harvard now, and they all hang out with kids from other colleges. A lot of people from BU go to MIT parties, MIT kids will see their Harvard friends around Harvard Sq. Or like people from Northeastern and BU room in a apartment together and can take the train together to class. I'm just thinking on the intl side of things that in Boston you may have more avenues to do thing connected to things you're familiar with and meet other students you can relate to, other intl kids and such. At MHC you could feel a bit outta your element or seperated. Like if you get homesick easily it could be lonely to be away from home and not have others you cna relate with. But I def don't want to put you off MHC. It's def a good school, and if you like it then def go with it. Just like weigh your options against each other and compare them and then just go with your gut. You don't want to overthink it and like try to go to a school where you think you'll get better jobs from or get into a better grad school, you need to go with the one you think you'll fit better.
