Both of my parents nominally prefer South Carolina, but are fine with whichever choice I make. My dad feels that Columbia is easier to get to than Tuscaloosa (not sure if I agree or if this matters), but he is completely on board with both. My mom is extremely enamored by the words “cohort program”. She was pushing for me to go to Kentucky for a while until she heard about the IBA Program. But, not being in the honors college does give her a little pause. My college counselor (and most people I have talked to) is very 50-50 in that Alabama has a SLIGHT edge, but USC’s IBA Program closes that to a tie. I need to decide what is most important to me.

I will let you both make your final cases!

Thank you to everyone, and I truly went back and forth on the decision (and even had to put off my initial commitment for another hour to decide), but I decided to go with Alabama. ROLL TIDE!!

Congrats! You won’t be the only kid from the area that’s made that decision too! :-D

Congrats! UA has a lot to offer you as a NMF. Take advantage of it.

Though, I am the first from my school to ever make that decision.

Sorry that I did not go with USC, but it pretty much came down to being in the honors college.

@SurvivorFan, I’m pretty sure I know which school you’re talking about (my son almost went there), and I’m pretty sure my son is the first kid from his school to go to Bama too. I doubt you’ll both be the last.

Vanderbilt came through for me. Now, I have to decide whether to stick with Alabama or go to Vandy.

Congratulations! Did they offer any aid? What are your parents saying?
This is fantastic news, even if it means a dilemma… and if you’ll have to update the saga we’ve requested to become a sticky thread for all students to read. :)

They are saying that they will pay for it, but want me to go to Alabama (for a few reasons). I can choose, but if I go to Vanderbilt, I am on my own for grad school.
