Decision Time: Connecticut College or Providence College

My ‘gut feeling’ is the Providence College is a better match for you also - only if you feel confident about meeting the mertit scholarship requirements. What is more important though is your ‘gut feeling’… I think you will make the decision that is best for you.

I feel confident that I will meeting their 3.25 GPA requirement. I forgot to mention the first year is 3.0 GPA and after that it’s 3.25 GPA to keep the scholarship. I have to make over 3.25 GPA to keep my scholarship and also to get into Medical School. Therefore, I have to achieve a high GPA .I need a 3.5 GPA or more.

The only issue with need-based grant is my dad income can change. Also, CC adjusted our grant and gave us grant money because my mother lost her job in December of 2013 and has not found a job yet. If my mom finds job tomorrow then that grand money could go lower (maybe). CC took in consideration my mother lost her job and had my parents do a 2014 cash flow chart. Holy Cross did not take in consideration my mother job loss. Holy Cross would only look at 2013 taxes and my parents made about $40,000 more in 2013 then they usually do. Also, my dad owns three rental properties and Holy Cross ask my dad every question in the book about these three rental properties. No other school did that. HC FA was very rude and stingy with their money. I heard they supposed to give great FA packages. I like to know who they gave the money too. All I received was loans. My family cannot afford $55,000 a year.

Sorry, I was venting. My parents are not rich but they make around $120k - 140K (with my Mom working). That not a lot money to afford $55,000 a year. That is another reason why I am very nervous about the need based grant and why I am leaning to PC to because of the Merit Scholarship.

It sounds like Providence is the best choice for you. :)

I decided to choose PC. CC might be a better school but I thought PC was a better fit for me. Everyone on here been very nice. I appreciate everyones help. Thank you

Thanks for letting us know-good luck to you!
