Decision time?

Anybody knows when the decision will be posted online?thanks!=)

Amherst posts online? I thought it was just snail mail.

email for internationals

Somebody needs to scoot that snail along because I'm getting impatient over here. Do we know when they are sending the letters?

you should be getting them in early april...although they came out a week earlier ED, so who knows...they do not post decisions online, however. you'll have to wait for a letter (unless you are an international, in which case you should receive your decision by e-mail).

As a legal alien (G4 visa holder, not a citizen or permanent resident), I really love how they consider me an international student throughout the entire admissions and financial aid process, yet when it comes to notifications, I'm suddenly domestic. Couldn't they at least follow through enough to give me the ONE benefit of applying as an international, instead of just the negatives?

actually it isnt that much of a benefit. They send the emails off a while after they finish posting decisions.

I'm going to be really upset if they don't tell u suntill april. I am hearing from all of my other schools this week, but Amherst is where I want to go.

i know ..have they said ANYTHING about when they get decisions out?

if I didn't get into Haveford do I have no chance of getting into Amherst?

ogleness, I am in the same situation as you...

I don't understand it. I am well above all their averages that I can find (expect for class rank, my downfall?)

let's cry together! it is much more fun that way.

now I just sound snooty. sorry.

Same situation here more or less.... I was waitlisted by Haverford and applied to Amherst. Where else did you apply? I applied to Penn, Vassar, Franklin & Marshall, and Ursinus

Now, to answer your question as best I can. As someone in a similiar position to you, I have a positive outlook. Haverford is known for making quirky decisions in who it admits and who it doesn't because of factors such as the Honor Code and the small student body. Just because you didn't get into Haverford doesn't mean you won't get into Amherst. Also keep in mind that the pools are different; there might have been several people that were similiar to you in the Haverford pool, however, you could have something unique about yourself compared to the Amherst pool. Lastly, check out this thread from last year which talks about Amherst and Swarthmore: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/archive/index.php/t-163148.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/archive/index.php/t-163148.html</a>.

I hope that helps. Good luck with getting into Amherst (and don't worry about Haverford... every college has its own particular want from its students. Maybe you didn't click with Haverford's, but that doesn't mean you won't with Amherst's).

And sorry to all prospective Amherstians out there who don't want to hear about the concerns of us rejected/waitlisted Fordians... we seem to have hijacked this thread... :-)

That's quite alright, as I'm in a kinda similar situation in that I was waitlisted at Wash U. Hope Amherst comes through!

Wash U waitlists seem really random and strange. I didn't apply there, but it seems as if a ridiculous number of those who did were waitlisted.

u might be surprised!

It is nice to know what we are all sort of in the same boat.

I can't wait for this week to start slash be over!

Does anyone know the exact date of Amherst's decision?
