spring break is such a nice distraction... ive been too busy every minute so far to even think about april 1st.

and the stressing outness i was having about college anxiety earlier this month may have given me shingles... its no fun.

SO DONT STRESS OUT :)

o wow....can't wait till the 31st!!! :D

Do you think coaches know at all the schools? I am not a top recruit at Brown, because the coaches won't contact me, but at Harvard and Yale I am. That would be totally amazing if I could find out through the coaches. I am too nervous however to ask the coaches so I guess I will wait.

I dont think the coaches at top schools have that much interaction with the admissions process

I would be very cool/amazing/nervewracking if they did. What if they knew and you didn't? That would drive me up a wall. I am pretty sure that they are not supposed to tell you though.

there are also special deals via trains for students visiting schools. check it out, you can save hundreds.

If you are in Denver how could you get to the northeast during school on a train? Wouldn't you miss a full week or something? I can't miss more than one or two practices so flying is the only option...

lauren, may I suggest southwest, nice and cheap and you can still get a reasonably priced ticket close to the date that you are going to fly

lol...girls' sports^_^

well, over the summer, when i was visiting schools, i flew out east (into NY) and then took trains around the east coast visiting schools. if you have a number of preview days to attend, and the dates are somewhat aligned, i think taking a train is a great idea...as opposed to flying around the east coast...

I am amazed at how positive you all are, planning your trips out east. I am scared to even think about it! Don't want to jinx myself, stupid I know but I can't help it.

I know how you feel medhead. Someone asked me if I thought I would get into Brown and at first I didn't want to jinx myself....but then I asked myself, should someone smart enough to apply to Brown believe in jinxes?....I didn't think so, but I still told her "I don't like to guess." lol

I just tell people that "well, I'm hoping for the best."

thats what I say bcause thats all we can do, as everyone has said, it is in many ways a crap shoot, everyone is well qualified so they have to cut a lot of great candidates, what can you do?

I just say, we'll wait and see what happens

yeah, just because i'm visiting some schools doesn't mean i'll be visiting brown...
some people think it's impressive to hear where people have applied but anyone can apply to any school. the trick is getting in, and no one can count on that.

And even getting in doesn't necessarily impress people, if they write you off as a legacy or athlete or rich kid or something. Not that college is about impressing people...right?

The tough part is when people are impressed because you got into Brown and not because you're the sort of person who qualified for admission. (So if you don't get in, remember that it's a silly decision that doesn't change what type of applicant you are.) Arghhh! People are so impressed by brand names. If I were Supreme Ruler of the World, I would outlaw that sort of shallowness. Of course, I would next declare Ben & Jerry's the official ice cream of the world and require everyone to own a green bathrobe.

Ben and Jerry's? It's good, and eating an entire pint of it both disgusts me and gives me enormous satisfaction (especially half-baked) but there are a few places with home-made ice cream that beat Ben and Jerry's pants off.

funkyspoon, isn't that called Communism?! haha
