Posting this for my sister...

*Decision: ACCEPTED *

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT I (by section): 2210 (V: 690, M: 750, W: 770)
[] SAT IIs: Math I-750, Math II-770, Biology E-680
[] ACT: 35 (V: 34, W: 34, M: 36, S: 36)
[] APs: US History (10, 4), BC Calculus (11, 5), Biology (11, 5), Chemistry (11, 5), Statistics (12), Physics C (12), English Literature (12), Spanish Literature (12), European History (12)
[] IBs: none
[] GPA: ~3.95/4.0 unweighted, 4.42/4.5 weighted
[] Rank: 1 out of 55, however, her school doesn't formally rank its students so this probably wasn't included in her application.
[] Other stats: She's a year accelerated in math and is taking Multivariable Calculus this year.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: orchestra (11-12: first flute 12), school musical accompanist (8-12: piano 10, flute 8-9 & 11-12), varsity field hockey (9-12: captain 12), school newspaper (9-12: opinions editor 11, managing editor 12), math team (9-12), Model UN (9-10), piano & flute lessons (3-12 & 7-12)
[] Job/Work Experience: summer school math teacher & teacher's aid (12), biofuel research assistant with a school science teacher (11), library bookstore volunteer (10)
[] Essays (subject and responses): She submitted the Renssalaer Medalist priority application, so I don't think she had any extra essays she had to write. Her common application essay was about the first time she really felt a passion for music (an impromptu piano performance in a bar in Zurich, Switzerland at age 10)
[] Teacher Recs: both were quite strong. One was written by a math teacher who has taught her for four classes and had her as an advisee throughout high school. The other was her Spanish teacher whose had her for two years and who is known as an excellent college recommendation writer (he went to Yale and has taught courses there).
[] Counselor Rec: should have been solid. She's a bit of a "phenom" in her high school and I think he may have focused on that. It was probably a bit impersonal, however.
[] Applied on: right around the deadline... I'm not sure of the actual date.
[] Hook (if any): she submitted a cd of her flute performance. She's also a Renssalaer Medalist (other awards include AP scholar with distinction, Cum Laude, Bausch & Lomb, and National Merit Finalist)
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: southern CT (very competitive area for colleges)
[] School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): small private with a few Ivies and a handful of top LACs a year. Most students go to mid-tier LACs and universities.
[] Ethnicity: white
[li] Gender: female[/li][/ul]**General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congrats everyone! After a rejection from MIT this afternoon, this was a very reassuring result :)
