So my family will be gone on a boring 2 weeks vacation this summer...and I don't have to go. I could either go, and stay in some house for 2 weeks, with no Internet service, nothing to do. Or I could stay here, home alone, and throw parties at my house like everyday. !!!

Any suggestions?

Well, it’s your last summer with your parents before you go off to college. For family’s sake, I would go.

But then again… If they won’t miss you, there’s nothing wrong with a couple of house parties while they’re gone. After all, you won’t be seeings these kids again after college starts.

Be a bum and catch up on all those TV shows and movies that school prevented you from enjoying.

Would throwing a big party be a bad decision? How hard is it to clean up after?

Throwing a party isn’t a great idea generally. I’d recommend a backyard party if your house is secluded.

The problem with parties is that you start with ten people, and then word gets around that there’s a party at your house and fifty people rudely barge in and destroy your stuff. And you can’t exactly call the police to explain that the underage drinking party you threw in your parents’ house has gotten out of hand.

1) limit it to 10-40 people depending on size of the house
2) try to limit the party to your basement or a certain room. you can even put a tarp down or remove the rug in that room to ease cleanup.
3) charge $10 cover. put a big dude outside to limit the number of people and protect the gender ratio. he gets half the cover.
4) get a few cases of natty light or something similar. it’s cheaper than getting a keg delivered. you should be able to get four cases for about sixty bucks which is 120 brews.

And throw in some cigars to keep it classy

Hmm thanks for the tip.

Well, if your parents are going somewhere pretty awesome, then by all means go. If not…stay home.

i just want to add that it’s possible to throw a house party that goes off without a hitch. it just takes planning and precautions. and you won’t be able to drink much if you’re supposed to be hosting the party, as you’ll need to keep a clear head. basically it can be fun to throw a party, but crashing someone else’s party is often more fun.

Hmm…alright, ah, such a hard decision to make.
