Decisions have been made for EA!

It doesn't mean anything!!! Don't worry about this, people!!!

haha yeah we are definitely reading wayyyyy too much into this.

Let's just cross our fingers for around this friday. =/

unc is making making me want to pull my hair out with all this likely-letter-seasons-greetings-scholarship-day-taking-freaking-forever MESS!
anyways your right... I'm crossing my fingers for everybody this weekend!
and HAPPY NEW YEARS!

take a chill pill guys and breath

We are going on our second tour tomorrow and i will ask and get back to everyone. but we will all know soon anyway.

I will say this...it is odd how some get this and some get that from unc. I wonder if it is more to do with the emails addresses that unc complies?
it does not make sense to send a season's greetings to one applicant and not the other. wouldn't you think the email would go out to everyone with an email?

bottom line, if unc would notify in dec like every school with ed/ea, none of this would be a problem. we got an acceptance from another hard to get into school weeks ago. does anyone know the reason they wait so long to tell us?

^^i've heard speculation that they want to wait and see if people who have been accepted ED somewhere else withdraw their apps from consideration. this would open up some spots and save them from accepting kids who cannot accept UNC's enrollment offer because they have commited to another school

^^ seeing as how iv attempted to withdraw my app several times and it still shows up as not withdrawn on my unc homepage makes me think that they arent even acknowledging withdraw requests.

posting in an epic thread

i got a birthday greeting and seasonal greeting but no likely letter or email or scholarship day letter so whats the deal

nothing... again, only a handful of people ever get likely letters and as far as scholarship day letters go just because you didn't get one doesn't mean you won't receive some sort of financial aid. and just because you didn't get a LL doesn't mean you won't be accepted

chesterboy- i've heard the same thingg that you mentioned

Sooo, everyone is officially betting on this friday??

If that is the case, then what would happen exactly? Would they email us that day, telling us to check our status on the UNC site? Or what?

my guess would be that around between 4-7 PM everything will go up. I know that's how it worked for my friends with ED for Yale, Penn etc and for other admission decisions made online. Instead of going to the website mentally unprepared I'm just going to keep checking this website because considering the amount of Tarheel hopefuls here, most people are going to be checking nonstop all day and then will post as soon as they see their decision. Then, once I know it's up there I can mentally prepare myself and make sure everyone is out of the room so if there are any close sharp objects i don't fling them in rage due to rejection. But that's just my gameplan ;]

just stay classy...oh haha see what I did there?

not true on the time thing; all the schools i applied to (michigan, wisconsin, uwashington) posted before noon. i'm guessing ivy league does it their own way, like they always do. but considering the admissions office closes at 5, i'd assume they'd do it before that ;)

My son got the Christmas greetings, along with emails reminding him of the app. deadlines, but he is not applying there because they don't have engineering.

My daughter is a sophomore at UNC, and they didn't send out an email; she and her friends just checked their homepages and it was posted there; I believe it was early evening, but I don't recall the exact time.

Good luck to everyone who applied. I am a UNC grad and it is a great school.

you stay classy, salamisammich
"anchorman" love

Well NC State said they would post their decisions on a saturday at 7 PM. Just saying that you probably can't depend on an exact time frame. It actually came out on a friday around 4ish.

i c wat u did thar

ya University of Georgia came out and told everyone who applied early that they would post admission decisions on December 14 at 4:00. When 4:00 came on the 14 the server got jammed from everyone trying to get on all at once. Maybe UNC Chapel Hill is purposely not giving an exact time to prevent a server jam from happening. They know that everyone is speculating that it will come out this Friday so their work is done.
Good luck everyone and to myself!!!!
