(It’s 1:00AM here.) I’m just gonna play MineCraft while listening to jazz until the decision email link arrives.

^Watch it not show up for like another 9 hours. Haha.

UGH. Fine, I guess I’ll just sleep when I want to then…

Yes, remember that last year (RD) people weren’t able to see decisions until a little after 7 PM Central time… pace yourselves. Why haven’t they at least given us a (theoretical) time?

Thanks for the reminder. Alrighty, good night to y’all!

Just out of curiosity (I’m fairly new here on CC), how is it that the term ‘■■■■■’ came about?
I can’t think of anything in common between the bloodthirsty fantasy creatures and people bored enough to spread inaccurate information on the internet…

reliable sourse (insider): its coming out at 6 pm chicago time

im just gonna waittttt for it to come out. We are starting our springbreak today.

how do you know^

Crossbow, I think it relates to the idea of the evil/ugly ■■■■■ who lives under the bridge and pops up to prevent people from crossing… an impediment on one’s journey.

The trollface, often associated with ■■■■■■■■

In Internet slang, a ■■■■■ is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] In addition to the offending poster, the noun ■■■■■ can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in “that was an excellent ■■■■■ you posted”. While the term ■■■■■ and its associated action ■■■■■■■■ are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with ■■■■■■■■ being used to describe intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context. For example, recent media accounts have used the term ■■■■■ to describe “a person who defaces internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families.”[3][4]

Well, makes sense I guess. They are both evil or something. I wonder who thought of it; it feels quite weird to call people ■■■■■■, when there are plenty of other, more evil creatures around.
Maybe I just read to much Artemis Fowl…

^^I think the etymology also relates to the verb form of ■■■■■ – ■■■■■■■■ as in searching/finding victims to upset/irritate/mess with. But obviously the term has evolved into thinking of these trollers as “■■■■■■” in the evil-monster-under-the-bridge sense. (“Don’t feed the ■■■■■■” as in, don’t encourage these folks by responding.)

I’m an international too, and my nerves are going to fry if they try pull another “10PM”… it would be 5AM South African time! How are we meant to survive this wait?

I hope you’re wrong haha.

So guys last summer before I even applied to chicago, they sent me a UChicago T-Shirt. Did any of you guys get one and does that mean a lot of interest from UChicago?? haha

They sent the shirt when I sent them my test scores.

^am I the only one who finds that insanely funny?

ahhh ok, I get it I think that’s what happened with me too

how much longer…why can’t they give us a time? =[

I’m guessing either 3:00 (when the office closes) or 6:00 (on the chance that a previous poster’s ‘inside source’ is legit). I’m seriously freaking out. Come on, UChicago, quit killing us with anxiety.
