<p>Speaking specifically for the 2013 threads, on numerous posts when applicants called the admissions office they said that decisions would not be out till April 1st, and even said they would be released till a certain date, but it ended up being much before that. Also, it seems that past admission decisions for WashU have come just around this date, so it would make sense to think the same would happen for this year. Also, the error message that UVA got, I felt, might be an indicator that admissions decisions would be released today. While I have taken many programming classes in high school, I can’t say I understood exactly what that message meant, however. As for the part about “I would be surprised”, that’s just my personal opinion (backed up by no facts).</p>
<p>The server could have just been overloaded. This thread has over 60,000 views, the vast majority of which come from people without a CC account. There are thousands of people anxious to check their decision, so it’s most likely an overload. Or they’re altering the server to prepare for a database transfer.</p>
<p>I question the server overload possibility. If indeed the server was overloaded by people rushing to check their decisions, then went down, people would note that the server went down and would assume decisions are coming up. As a result, they would keep visiting.</p>
<p>If it was a server overload, the stress on it would not ease, thus there is not reason for it to stop being overloaded.</p>

<p>That is the point I was trying to make in layman’s terms. If they are preparing to upload all the decisions, they would need to many changes to the database and to the layout of the pathway (to include the View Your Admission) link. I refuse to believe that they do not upload the decisions much earlier than they release them, it would simply not be plausible to upload all the decision letters and give people access to them in the span of 5 minutes.</p>
<p>My dad called earlier today and said there was a lot of excitement on the internet because people thought they were releasing decisions today. Their response was “Okay”.</p>

<p>It means they’re getting annoyed that lots of people are impatient.</p>
<p>You get speculation going that they’ll release decisions soon since that’s been the trend, and then you get dozens of people calling every day asking if “this is the day they’ll be uploaded.”</p>
<p>^You’d think they’d just go easy on the admissions office and release the official time of the decisions to the public. It would save them a lot of trouble, and time.</p>
<p>But that would put them under pressure in case some unforeseen difficulties should arise. The people doing the actual admissions work probably don’t care much about the receptionist getting annoyed, but it’ll certainly show in the receptionist’s tone when she answers calls.</p>

<p>Will someone please make an official results thread so we’re all ready when the decisions DO come out? Although seeing the thread title will probably send people madly scrambling to their pathway accounts…</p>
<p>We could, but that would freak people out. Couldn’t it just be made as soon as the results are posted? Keep in mind, that could be in a week’s time.</p>
