Decisions on the 15th

@Ryuuzaki L- You'll be one of us wizened seniors before you know it. Time flies by.

@kalamity

yeah, for the EA deadline, i couldn't sleep, and to make matters worse I woke up around 6.....only to flop aimlessly around my house and be deferred.

i refuse to get that worked up this time around :)

yeah, I was like that too
Although i expected deferral for EA, it was still not too pleasing. I was quite upset since like everyone else I knew got in. And since there is alway that tiny voice inside telling you that you have a chance, and there is this small possibility. Then I went out for Dim Sum with my family so it was all good in the end XP

I love how all the people who applied for MIT also applied for CalTech...myself included

So how many people got rejected from caltech??? lol

mememememe

that doesn't worry me though. i put more work into my MIT application anyway.

I didnt apply to Caltech :D

neither did i...way too nerdy for me. mit has a top notch b-school and the perks of boston =)

raises hand I didn't apply to caltech OR chicago like a lot of EAs did. They just can't compare ^^

only applied to two schools... and have gotten into one ^_^

i was originally considering caltech, but i figured the male/female ratio was a bit much for me...and it's too far away...and i probably wouldn't get in anyway, when you consider my lack of science/math ECs. XD

Oh, please. Caltech is only looking for grades and stats. Major ECs and multiple major math/science awards didn't seem to mean diddly. Neither did huge test scores. In the end, it was about the grades, which were not perfect, but pretty %$#@ good nonetheless, especially considering the courseload.

If I posted the specifics, you'd be shaking in your boots.

@ ljd: please post stats, the senioritis has fully kicked in and perhaps getting me shaking in my boots will encourage me to get some work done :)

Don't think so.

Look at this thread, the spectum grades and stats spread all around.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/california-institute-technology/470859-class-2012-rd-thread-profile.html

The bottom line, in general Caltech wants to make sure the ones got accepted are able to take the course load there. Since there is no otherway around there.

From CollegeNavigator 2007 data. The < 25% and > 75% test scores in two institutes.

Caltech 2007: **
Test Scores 25th Percentile* 75th Percentile

SAT Critical Reading 700 780
SAT Math 770 800
SAT Writing 680 770
ACT Composite 32 35
ACT English 31 35
ACT Math 34 36

College Navigator - California Institute of Technology

MIT 2007:
Test Scores 25th Percentile* 75th Percentile**
SAT Critical Reading 660 760
SAT Math 720 800
SAT Writing 660 750
ACT Composite 31 34
ACT English 30 35
ACT Math 32 35

College Navigator - Massachusetts Institute of Technology

I didn't apply to CalTech either. As a Californian (Northern California, the good part) I sort of regard Pasadena as the pit of hell and have trouble imagining spending four years there.

But yeah, the idea that MIT decisions are just a few days away is not going to enhance my productivity this week.

yeah...saturday is the closing night of my school's musical, and I could go to my last show depressed or incredibly hyper...

I am going insane.

I'll probably have to wait until I get home form Science Olympiad States at, like, 2AM Sunday morning. That'll be fun. :) I definitely hope I get in and I wish you all the best of luck!

@diginetgod, I didn't know NY states was so early. Pardon my asking, but are you from Vestal, Fayetteville-Manlius or one of the teams in the southern NY area? I remembering competing against them at the Athens invitational this year, and they made a very impressive showing. Good luck at states!

I only applied to Caltech to keep my options open; I never really wanted to go. Now that they let me in, I might consider....IF and ONLY IF MIT doesn't want me. It seems too nerdy and theoretical for me.

Caltech is trying really hard to get girls this year... last year my school had 1 girl and 2 guys getting in... this year 4 girl ,2 guys... so a lot of the other guys were pretty mad.

MIT is definitely my first choice!
SOO nervous for Saturday. I already started freaking out and bugging my friends.

im sooooooooo nervous....man. mit is amazing.
