Rejected too...

ACCEPTED!!! omg I am so excited!

PUT THIS IN THE RIGHT THREAD.

To all who were rejected, I'm really, really sorry to hear that. I'm sure you're all awesome and I wish I could have met you.

I feel myself beginning to hyperventilate every time I go to press the "Display Decision" button. Guess I'll be waiting for awhile until I calm down >.>

Waitlisted. Does it mean something? Any last year data about waitlisteds?

1min.... Nervous

They're already up. Go check

Tsenguun, last year 319 people accepted a spot on the waitlist, and 40 were admitted. (Common Data Set)

I might expect them to make more use of the waitlist this year than in the past, given the elimination of early programs at many of MIT's top competitor schools.

How does MIT pick students off the wait list if there's space? Does it pre-rank the wait-listed candidates, or does it re-evaluate them in May and June?

Thanks.

MIT re-evaluates all applicants who choose to remain on the waitlist.

Matt's waitlist post from last year is here (he'll likely be putting up a very similar post within the next few days for this year's waitlisted applicants). He also has another informative entry from May 2007 here, where he talks a little bit more about selection of students from the waitlist.

Waitlisted students can send in more supplemental information, if they would like to (and if you haven't sent all of your supplemental stuff already :)). Hang in there -- I know it's tough to be in limbo like this.

^ would like to know as well

where's the site I can check?

they don't even send me an email?

decisions.mit.edu

i think like 20 ppl got in from the waitlist last year....out of 500

Someone from my school got in off the waitlist last year, so don't lose hope! Ask your guidance counselor to call MIT a lot and appeal your case.
