Regular decisions will be mailed tomorrow!!!!!!!!

This is in one of the threads already, but I wanted to make sure everybody opening Caltech link could see it right away. The director of admissions just posted this morning, March 3, that they were finishing up today and mailing the decisions tomorrow the 4th. Good luck to all of you! Time to wait by the mailbox. From what I read, small envelopes mean rejected or waitlisted, large ones mean accepted. They usually email the decisions later. If you want to post your decisions news on this thread, go ahead. I will be checking the mailbox every day starting Thursday!

mailing as in mailing through snail mail? what about the international students? that willtake ages to come if that is the case.

Yes, snail mail. However, I do believe that they also email the decisions after a few days. So you may get the email first. Go to the Caltech admissions website, and go to the admissions blog; the director is going to post tomorrow after they mail the decisions. He should give more info then. Hope that helps

How long do you think it takes mail to get from CA to NY?

So if I faxed in my Midyear report but haven't been able to mail it yet (as requested), I guess I'm SOL.

Hmm, if they do mail it tomorrow it'll probably reach my house on Friday. While I'm in San Diego. Oh well..

oh thanks.
that means i will have to wait a few days for the email and even longer for the snail mail. sighz. why is caltech mailing out the decision letters so early this time round?

oh my gosh.

so nerve-racking

ugh this was a MAJOR surprise.
considering i'm on the east coast, i still have to wait while everyone else knows :/

but if they mail in the morning, we should know by saturday...

i guess saturday wont be so bad, gives me a day to grieve and move on. =]

Oh my jesus. I was not expecting this. AGH!

Gah, waiting stinks when you live near Boston. Especially since my only two non-email schools are in California. It'll be a long wait until Saturday (I think I read somewhere that the email is sent on Saturday, but I have no clue). Speaking of which, is anyone else doing M3 on saturday?

woot, i'll finally get my first rejection letter

^^ Me too, quantize....but i could also be waitlisted. =/

and waiiitingg until Saturday sux!!! (I live in CT)

In a way this is funny, the announcement was on their website just stating:

"We are finishing up the letters and expect to mail freshman admissions decisions tomorrow. I'll post more details once the mail goes out."

And the nano-second that was announced across the country people are running in circles screaming "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Twisted, yet funny, so I guess this is pure CalTech

Don't freak out if you have not heard by Saturday.
I am in Nor Cal and it took two days for the early admissions packet to reach me.
Look for the large silver and orange envelope!

I was obviously the 897th person to call today to inquire just when the envelopes are going out. They said this week, but the tone implied "When I get my hands on the director who published this on the website, no jury will convict me"

So will wait for the web announcement

Where did the admissions people say this? Are you guys sure they're mailed out today?

This is so unexpected. I thought March was going to be the worst month of my life waiting for all the decisions. With this news it could end up being be so much better than I imagined... or so much worse.
