Keelee, I'm on your side. It's ridiculous to think you'd lie about this; aside from which the premise itself makes sense.

I am telling you guys what I heard straight from the mouth of admissions counselor Andre Phillips when he interviewed me.....

He told me that they will be sending out decisions in late March(25th or 26th), a day where there is no doubt that your UChicago decision will get to you before the Ivies do. He said that this is a new thing they were trying. He didn't seem to be lying when I spoke to him.

That is nothing new. They have always sent them out around 25/26 March. I I got my acceptence the Monday I got back from spring break, which, IIRC, was 27 March.

if you don't mind me asking, where are you from keelee?

(i'm trying to gauge how long it'll take the letter to reach me here.)

I am in a suburb of Minneapolis and I got my EA acceptance packet on the 16th. The letter was dated the 15th but the people in the EA Roster thread decided that they were set on tuesday so it took 2 days for me. In the decision thread, I remember people in both california and oregon getting decisions on the 16th but I dont think anyone on the east coast recieved them until the 17th.

on the east coast i received mine on a saturday, the 20th i believe, which was, yes, excruciating to wait

whoo, i'm in chicago, hopefully i get the letter the next day. but then again, i never get my mail the same day as everyone else, i tend to get my mail later! ah! mail..
i wished they did it online. they have such nice little accounts for the applicants. why can't they just post them online? lol.
i'm counting down the days. good luck all!

I think its because the acceptance is more than just a "you're in" letter like the state schools do. It is an elegant honor to be recieving this giant envelope with carefully designed contents printed on expensive cardstock. They really care about the whole application process and ending it with an email link to some website with a lame flash movie just isnt the same.

Also, after the Harvard B-School fiasco, maybe online delivery isnt such a great idea.

i would enjoy getting a no-frills decision online and a nice, fancy packet later on in the mail. that wouldn't bother me at all. lol.

Oh twink1, the letter is beautifully written. It's worth the wait, it's actually meaningful. Not just a "Welcome to the class of 2009, don't let your grades slip." I'm on the east coast and I got my package on saturday the 18th, and it was postmarked the 14th.

well, i haven't been reading this forum, but i guess i was one of the few that got their decisions in early febuary. in fact it was postmarked feburay 3rd.

the letter comes in a big blue envelope and honestly isn't all that compelling. oh well, uiuc, hurray!

congrats. if you dont mind me asking, why uiuc over uchicago?

haha, my bad. i thought this forum was about uiuc. i guess i should learn to read?

sorry for misleading anyone.

and i thought you were a genius for a second.

I was going to say! Because the envelope sure isn't blue. It's grey and white and has the UChicago phoenix on it.

is it just me, or does the idea of sending massive amounts of mail on a friday and saturday sound really stupid to anyone else?

ok so when exactly are decisions sent out?
and is it going to be emailed?
i'm an international applicant..

sending a large amount of mail on thursday makes sense though...maybe they are in the mail right now...

silver, the two of us are going to be in agony while these folks get their letters before we do. ;)

Which courier sevice do they use, I wonder? FedEx? DHL? UPS? And wouldn't it be extremely expensive to send ALL int'l decisions via courier?

Eek. Chicago's decision is the only one I'm getting anxious over. Just think: those letters are probably making their slow, tempting journey across land and sea RIGHT NOW! The horrible thing is, I'm off from school for a week so I'll be lazing about at home for a whole week while I get all my decisions. Maybe I should go study now.

oh gosh... that sounds horrible! i just want to know now! don't we get to find out by email or something?
