I don’t know, maybe caus I got a scholarship.

@Istrebitel: You a recruited athlete? Also, may I ask how much scholarship did they offer?

Thanks and Congrats!!!

No, I am not a recruited athlete. I got 13000 annual and 52000 total

Today I was told that RD letters are being mailed tomorrow.

Really? That is great. How were you informed with this information, Bubblemom?

Hello Everyone,

My DD received her acceptance in the mail today (03/11) but we are local so it may take a few more days via snail mail. She got the Deans Award for $15,000/yr. I am not sure whether she will attend yet but it is a very good school in a great location. I imagine most kids will be hearing very soon.

Congrats to your D, Poppymom! Did you also receive a financial aid package?!

Annetaylor, I was told about the mailing date for RD letters when I called the admissions office about something else.

Received an email last Friday: Acceptance with ‘highest merit-based scholarship, a Chancellor Award worth $19,000 per year’. Was happy to be accepted but a bit baffled cause I had thought that the UD gives full-ride to some… I simply cannot afford this school with that $19,000 scholarship. Well, I really hope they cover much more with need-based aid.

Best of luck, everyone!

Accepted today with 17,000$ scholarship! Congrats to all

My son got accepted and considers it his 1st choice. Sadly we didn’t get any merit aid. Perhaps we can pick up some dollars from those who may not be attending.

Daughter got accepted today after being deferred from EA, but also without any merit aid. She loved the school when we visited in February but without any merit aid, there is no way she will be able to attend.

Son received his acceptance today along with nice merit scholarship and invitation to Honors Program. If he goes, he will be in the BFA Electronic Media Arts & Design program. It is one of 2 schools he applied to that he did not visit, so we may need to make a visit before the final decision has to be made. Anyone know much about the program? Anyone know anyone who is in it?

My D received her acceptance, honors invite and chancellor award on Monday. She was very flattered to receive what we now understand to be DU’s highest award. However, we will very likely be turning down the offer since she has received higher award offers from her higher ranked schools. 19K against 52K total cost is still leaves a pretty big chunk to swallow, unfortunately. We were not aware, at no fault to anyone at DU by the way, that the merit aid was capped as it is. DU is a GREAT school. Congrats to everyone that will be attending there in the Fall! :-)

Accepted with 11k a year scholarships, but I’m going to turn down the offer.

accepted with a 16,000 merit scholarship. i applied almost as an afterthought, but now I’m looking more closely at it and think it could be a pretty good fit…seems like they have some good things going for them. Anybody know when financial aid is supposed to come back for RD kids?

my son has been admitted for International Relations - very good scholarship/FA offer. Denver was a “safe” school for him (4.5 GPA, 2020 SAT, all the extra curr…) and he is waitlisted at 5 of his top choices (all “ivyish”). Also got in to American and USD (it is so interesting how similar kids apply to so many of the same schools!). He is also in at Berkeley, UCLA and USC (who’s FA folks say our share of cost is $52k per year…LOL).
He is attending Pioneer Days to check it out. Anybody have experience weighing the pros/cons of American vs. Denver vs. Berkeley for IR??

HI Momma2,

I have a son who is a senior at DU and a son who is a sophomore at American…both have had happy, successful experiences at their respective schools. Do you have anything specific you are thinking about?
