Does anyone know when we are supposed to receive RD decisions from Smith? And is it posted electronically in addition to being mailed? Thanks!

Both ED I and II were posted online as well as sent in the mail, so I would assume its the same for RD.

RD decisions are posted on the 20th March after 6pm Eastern time.

How do you know?

20th? so early...

Go to this link http://www.smith.edu/newsoffice/releases/NewsOffice09-013.html and it gives you details of the admission decisions for RD and transfer students

Hm. From the sound of the article, it looks like snail mail letters are mailed on the 20th, so it would actually take at least a few days to receive those letters. I live about two hours away from the five college area, and it generally takes an additional two days after mailing for letters from my friends in the area to get to me.

Saskia, I couldn't find anything in the article about if/when they'd post RD decisions online. Where'd you find that?

For ED I and ED II, the decisions were posted online on the same day that letters were mailed out, at 6 PM. It will be the same for RD most likely. However, your financial aid info won't be available online so you wont' know about that until your letters arrive.

"Letters admitting, denying or wait-listing first-year applicants will be mailed March 20. Those for Ada Comstock Scholars and transfer students will be mailed exactly a week later."

It's at the bottom of the article. Decisions should also be posted online at this time. You should you the Smith facebook group as it has a lot of information regarding admissions notifications.

"However, your financial aid info won't be available online so you wont' know about that until your letters arrive. "

Really? Admission decision and finaid info wont be communicated to students at the same time? Oh it is sad...
Accepted letters will be sent via express mails and rejection letters via snail mail, right?

Well, technically you do get your admissions decision and financial aid at the same time. The financial aid statement will come with your official admissions letter. They just don't post the fin aid stuff online because the material is sensitive and confidential.

I have no idea how they will send the letters. When I was accepted I received my letter via regular snail mail, it arrived about three days after they posted it. And there was no online posting then so I was on pins and needles, you guys are very lucky.

Does finaid include scholarships? Say, if one were to get a STRIDE or whatnot, would the online decision include this or no?

Thanks for putting up with all our questions, S&P. :]

Thanks for the link, it's nice to know the exact date.

Yes, fin aid includes things like STRIDEs, so I doubt that you will find out if you are a STRIDE scholar until you get your acceptance packet. You might get it on that day or just a few days after, so just hang in there.

oh 20 days are left...

D got her STRIDE letter 2-3 weeks before the formal admissions letter & packet. Fwiw.

And at that point, she knew where she was going to college. It was all over except crossing sabers with FinAid.

when you said the results are posted "online", you meant the e-mail will be sent on 20th March, didn't you? As I don't know there's a place on smith.edu to post that kind of information.

Actually, there are individual accounts for checking admissions info. I received a letter giving me the details of how to log in--basically you click on the Bannerweb link in the bottom right corner of the home page, then enter a User ID and PIN.

Yes, Cygne is right, the decisions are posted on Bannerweb and you log in using the username and password that you were sent. If you lost it, you can email the admissions office and they'll send you a new one, though I think they're pretty busy right now.

Sorry about giving out the wrong info about the STRIDEs, I never got one so I assumed they just came with the rest of the fin aid info.

I wonder what are the adcoms doing now?Have they finished reviewing all the applications?
