I’m trying to get motivated via the, “Bag a Week” thread to do some purging/decluttering. I am also wanting to get a bit more organized/streamlined in our kitchen. Trying to figure out the best use of this space from an organizational/storage standpoint.
Ha! I actually have this! We put it in with our kitchen remodel. It’s the bottom cabinet. On the top level I have the pots and skillets we use regularly. The bottom we have things we use less regularly - the Foreman grill, waffle maker, cake pans, etc. But in 4 years I haven’t had to reorganize anything. It stays nice and neat. It was such a mess before
My lower corner cabinet has a door that opens…and a full circle lazy Susan in it. That’s what I have. Really…I can’t put anything THAT big or heavy on my round shelves.
Others have a door that opens and the shelves pull out hooked to the door.
Others have a corner cabinet without lazy Susan…just shelves. In my experience, those are the type where the less used items go.
@BunsenBurner which kind did you have that could accommodate heavier and bigger things?
Mine is pretty sturdy. I have flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch etc. and a basket with coffee and coffee filters on the top. The bottom is mostly a million kinds of tea (DIL and her family give us tea every time they visit!) and chocolate, both for baking and eating and drinking.
I put a lot of weight on my lower level kitchen corner unit - large and smaller food processors, stick blender, vitamix blender, hand mixer and all the blades and attachments for these appliances.
That cabinet has 2 half moon shelves that rotate and extend out of the cabinet cavity. Haven’t had any trouble with all the weight. It’s this half moon version from Rev A Shelf. https://www.rev-a-shelf.com/blind-corner-accessories-info
My laundry room has the more traditional lower corner cabinets with a folding cabinet door to expose the entire corner. I used this Pie Cut lazy susan from Rev A Shelf. I load those up with very heavy things like Costco size laundry detergent and cleaning supplies. It’s amazing how much I can get on those shelves. https://www.rev-a-shelf.com/lazy-susans-info
It was a two-shelf lazy Susan with a 3/4 circle shelves… the cabinet door was a folding door to accommodate that. I stored heavier stuff on the bottom shelf.
I have 2 tiered upper and lower ones from IKEA. They are full circle and rotate all the way around. Bottom one has small appliances (crockpot) and larger dishes, mixing bowls, chip and salsa dish, and whatever else we cram in there on both tiers. It doesn’t mind the weight. The upper cabinet is where we keep cereal, some snacks, also some very small appliances on the top shelf (a mini waffle maker and mini donut maker).
Yours sounds much larger than mine! Mine are full circles, but not large enough for a Turkey platter or a crockpot. But I like them a lot…without those lazy Susan things, that corner would be a black hole!
I used to put canned goods in ours until the weight became too much and it cracked., DH replaced it and now I have on the bottom: oils, vinegars, some light hardly-used utensils (wonder cup, sieve etc). The top shelf has containers with measuring cups (dry and liquid), salts, and a few more weird utensils
