Havin’ played competetive sports myself I can tell you this: For many athletes sportsmanship doesn’t kick in AT ALL

Please do not judge, if you were not there. Yes, it was painful, but DA also was not trying. Really!

KUA brought about 22 players and a few did not play. The first couple of KUA lines are good, but they were exhausted early in the second quarter. KUA did have their scoring opportunities with a 3 minute non-releasable man-up opportunity and a 2 man-up opportunity, but still could not score.

For DA, the starters were pulled after the first quarter! Also, the clock was running in the second half and the third & fourth lines played most of the game. The team was “playing catch” most of the 4th. Even when not trying to score, there were many times DA was alone in front of the goal. DA also lost a very good middie for the season with a torn ACL.

KUA has traditionally been on the DA schedule as a Wednesday game. It’s difficult to find good competition on a weekday because of travel time.

This is not little league. There is not “mercy rule” in High School sports.

also i think nobody on this board get how good DA lax is the are the best team in the nation #1 yes they are that good DA vs KUA probs like Brazil playing American Samoa in Soccer a massacre even if they put in their reserves they have D1 and high D3 commits sitting on the bench who would be the best player at KUA by miles also Lacrosse is quite exhausting KUA could maybe keep up with DA speed of play for about half a quarter here is all of there recruited players [url=http://www.laxpower.com/recruits/recruits.php?action=viewRcd&db=recruits2010]LaxPower Recruits Databases/url

also coming from an athlete it is not fun to play (either on the winning or losing team) in a game like they are boring and not fun the winning feels guilty even though they are just doing their job on the field. athletics are all about striving to do your best and compete against opponents who challenge you. in sports there is nothing better than winning a very close game, and watching a nail-bitter on TV it is exciting and exhilarating. killing a team is not

sorry for my rambleing i hope it makes a bit of sense

if it makes anything, my lacrosse team just had 3 games, 16-1, 24-1, and 18-2. all losses LOL
thats how bad my team is…

hahahahaha

Which dorms are the best??? if its just opinion its ok (:

Just a note, DA just completed a badly needed update on their website. The new one looks & is so much better! :D

Yeah, I don’t know how I feel about the new website design. But as for the dorms, its completely subjective (I know that’s not the opinion you’re looking for). If you have the worst physical building, it can still be easily your favorite dorm if the kids are ones you enjoy spending time with. My opinion would be John Williams for the best boys dorm, because of the ‘character’ or whatever you want to call it.

For girls, I have no personal experience but they take tours into a dorm RIGHT next to the dining hall and my tour guide said that it was the best in her opinion not for the people but the location :P

Also, i noticed on the sports page at the Deerfield website, it said that they have a Reserve team. What is that??

Different schools call their “thirds” teams different names. I think DA refers to the teams as Varsity, JV and Reserve. Although I think in some sports they call the third team fresh/soph and maybe even “thirds” in other sports. A bit confusing but I think that’s the case.

Green Machine,

Question: Are students allowed, not allowed, encouraged or discouraged to use computers to take notes during class?

My d was looking forward to using her laptop to take her Cornell Notes on during lectures, she noted after revisits that the classes she sat in on students were not using them.

Thanks :-)

It depends on the teacher, however, most humanities classes will allow notes on a laptop. Most kids in my history class do, although I choose not to. However, in Science/Math/Language, no one doesn’t because those types of notes aren’t really taken.

You’ve probably seen these already, but here they are consolidated.

I just got the whole course registration thing, and I was wondering if I should pick history or humanities. Any opinions on which could be better?

CK-

Thank you for the list. We have started the reading list already, based on last years list, very similar. My d wants to read 80% of the books-lol…she is a nerd like that. (Six completed since she was accepted).

We had a very lengthy discussion about the “humanities” issue—I am just down right confused.–:-(

What’s the confusion? PM me if you’d like.

Are we, as new students, suppose to just follow the directions on the web site, or will we get some type of notification from the academy?

In terms of scheduling?

Do you mean your daughter’s class schedule? You should receive a packet for course registration soon. You will be able to access her schedule online around mid-August through DAinfo.
