defer enrollment??

ok, this might be a bit early to talk about that, but IF i should be offered a place at princeton, i would probably want to defer the date of my entry for a year.
a new possibility just opened, but i will probably not be able to seize it, if i have to start uni next september.
does anyone know more about their policy regarding deferring enrollment? when would i have to know and let them know? are there any conditions? thanks for replying!

If you get accepted, you have to reply to their offer by May 1. The reply can either be a yes, no or a request for a year’s deferment (which they always grant). It’s the same scenario with most universities. I don’t know about Princeton but you’ll reply through an online form for most universities (like Yale, for me).

Edit 1: check Princeton’s admissions site for more details, but there’s not really much else to this  It’s a pretty simple and non-scary process :)

found this on their website: [Princeton University | The Admission Decision](http://www.princeton.edu/admission/applyingforadmission/faq/the_admission_decision/)

May students who are admitted defer enrollment to another year?
Yes. Students who wish to take a year off from their studies may request to defer their enrollment for one year (and sometimes for an additional year). If you pursue this option, you may not enroll full time in a degree program at another institution during the deferral period. In recent years the activities of students taking a year off have included work, community service, travel, military service, arts training and religious studies. We recommend students request a deferral only after they are admitted and before May 10.

wow. thanks, those two replies were extremely helpful ^^!! haha i hope i have to request one, if only this means that i am accepted :P
