Deferral Advice

Hello, everyone

So I got a deferral from Harvard and after thinking on it for a while, decided I lacked a lot of personality in my application. Both my common app and supplemental essays were pretty generic and didn’t say much about me-wasn’t my best shot.
If I submit new essays to the applicant portal would Harvard actually take time to read it or would it be a waste of time?

Thank you

If you want to rewrite your essays for your RD schools, feel free. For Harvard, however, I doubt that they will put much consideration in your new essays as everyone who applied SCEA had the same deadline to write their most-polished application packet possible. Certainly update them if you have had meaningful achievements since 11/1.

Additionally, you have no knowledge about why you were deferred, so second-guessing is just a waste of time IMO. For next steps, read the below for starters. Good luck.

Thank you for the advice and the link. I guess I’ll just have to cross my fingers again and wait then haha
