It seems like a lot of people were deferred EA and not too many rejected. But for all the past CCer's who were deferred but then accepted what did you do differently when applying Regular Decision? Also, is it acceptable to call/e-mail your area admissions officer to ask specifically why you were deferred or to check to see if they received material in time for SCEA?

Have your Guidance Counselor call on your behalf – good luck!

i’ve heard of somebody getting deferred, and then the parents sent in a $100,000 check the next day.

he got accepted in the end

^ Probably a rumour.

If you were deferred, you won’t be reapplying. Your application will simply be moved to the next round.

Around 50% of applicants were deferred this admissions cycle.

Deferred applicants definitely stand a chance of being admitted in the regular round. I’d say this chance is better than that of the standard RD applicant. :)

^ nah [referring to the rumor thing]

it’s a relative of somebody i know

does anyone have stats on people who were accepted? (test scores, GPA, &such for 25th/50th/75th percentiles?)

also, does anyone know what % of initially deferred people get acceptance letters in the end?

rockermcr, are you sure it’s about 50%? i want to cheer my friend up but i dont want to give him false info. he got deferred today

^ Go Check the offical results thread. You will find all you need.

^ It was provided along with the letter of deferral.

are you sure you have to do it through your guidance counselor? doesn’t that seem unnecessarily roundabout?
