So I was browsing CC today when I realized that all Duke applicants received an email sometime 1-2 weeks ago. I was deferred back in December, and I never got this email. Furthermore, my portal page is lacking "Mid-Year Grades" on the to-do list, making me wonder if I was actually rejected, and lied to. My deferral decision is also missing from the portal. Any other deferrals have the same issue? Or am I just being paranoid?

I have heard others have the same problem… Also, I was accepted and had a change in my financial aid estimate, yet it hasn’t changed on the page so they seem to have moved on from all ED applications and are getting through the RD ones before re-reading deferrals.

@even3795: “and lied to;” come on, kid, don’t you think that’s slightly paranoid. Why would Duke – or any other university – deliberately lie to an admissions candidate? Call and ask about your deferred status and mid-year grades. However, please consider that Duke is dealing almost 32K undergraduate applicants in only a few months, for a class that will approximate 1700, with lots of paper, and near-unlimited opportunities for inadvertent mishandling. We all understand that your college decision-application-selection process is hugely important to YOU, but try to put this in an appropriate context. Six months from now, you will begin the “great undergraduate adventure” – whether at Duke or some other fine university – and the temporary status of your mid-year grade report will have been long forgotten.

Of course I understand I wasn’t deliberately lied to, I am just concerned, that’s all. Duke is still my favorite college by far, and I was just curious as to why certain things seemed to be missing.

I got deferred as well and my portal is in the same boat as you. It does not display mid year grades on my list either.
