So I had my counselor submit my first quarter grades before November 1st for my ED app. Long story short, Duke didn't put them in until I reminded them that they were in yesterday. I understand that some colleges will defer an applicant if he or she does not complete all materials before they start reviewing, which in Duke's case, is November 17th I think. I am quite worried about this, and even more so since it wasn't my fault that they were put in late. All of my courses are dual enrollment, however, so I am hoping that this will help me out. What do you guys think? Should I email my local counselor to explain?

I wouldn’t; you are far from the first ED applicant – this year and EVERY year – whose First Quarter/mid-semester grade report for Duke (and MANY other universities) has encountered this (and very similar) problems. The essential fact is, Undergraduate Admission now has your grades, your file should be complete, and the evaluation and decision processes will proceed normally.

@TopTier I see. I appreciate your answer!

@gujudukester how do you know they weren’t “put in”?? Do you have access to the same computer systems as Duke Admissions? If not then how would you know?

@sgopal2 They were listed as incomplete in my application portal

I’m not sure that the application portal and the Duke admissions computer systems are updated in real-time together. It normally takes some time from when something is received in admissions to the time the portal is updated.

Why don’t you just call the admissions office and find out?

I would give them a call to verify, or have your counselor send a follow up email. My son’s grades showed in the portal the same day he had them sent.
