I know that Duke had included a general percentage for deferred students from ED, in that deferral letter... did it say 5-10%??

For all Duke ED deferred applicants, how are yall feeling? Did you send anything to Duke after your deferral?

Best of luck to all of you guys~

I think it was 5-10%. It’s pretty small but I guess if you think of it as 5% of people who are in a similar qualification range because we were already deferred, it sounds a little better. I sent an email about a science competition I did and got a pretty generic email about deferral in response. I’m not really that concerned about the decision this time though, I’ve had plenty of time to think about the probable rejection.

I sent multiple emails to my regional rep about me getting Intel semis and she was very nice with all of her responses. I told my friend who got in ED and was going down to sort of jokingly ask the regional rep if I got in and supposedly she did and the rep remembered my name idk if that’s true but sounds good I guess! I am so nervous

haha that’s good that the rep remembered your name!
Is Duke still yall’s #1 choice?? I guess the big question is- would you still go to Duke if accepted?

I truly do love Duke… but the deferral made me look at different universities and see their beauty, which I wouldn’t have been able to do without the deferral.

I’ve been forced to consider other schools now I guess but I still think Duke is my top choice I’m not sure anymore though

I was deferred ED, but I got a likely from Cornell (with some amazing offers from Cornell on top) and I absolutely adore that school. When I applied ED, I hadn’t even looked at Cornell. So if I was accepted to Duke today, the scary thought would be deciding between the two, never mind the other schools I love such as Dartmouth and William & Mary. In the grand scheme of things, I don’t mind being deferred. I have seen how I fared at other schools, which was surprisingly well.

And yes, I did send something extra after: a letter of recommendation.

I was deferred and I’m realistically expecting a rejection tonight. I was already accepted to Rice (which I’m very happy about), so if I don’t get in I still have a place that I’d love to go to. Duke is still my #1 choice, but I expect that I’ll be going to Rice next year. If by some fluke they accept me, Go Devils

@evan I was thinking the same thing, then waitlisted at Rice… Oh well.
