Deferred by 2 LACs -- could it be grade point average?

@citymama9 There is a smallish group who aspire to east coast schools in general, and then a subset of those looking at LACs. The GC uses Carleton as an example of a school NOT to add on their Naviance account.

@rjjxv26 congrats to your son!! It looks awesome that Middlebury classifies the jv team as jv rather than club soccer team. Regardless, I am assuming that the jv team will probably function like most club soccer teams at other universities, in which case it isn’t a huge time commitment. It should be 2-3 practices a week and games on the weekend. Playing jv/club sports are great because it is still competitive but is is also casual. I highly recommend that your son do it. It is a great way to keep in shape and a good time.

@rjjxv26 on the soccer, email the JV coach. We know some LACs where the JV is really the bottom of the roster/reserve guys, to keep them training and improving with the goal of them being competitive for playing time as juniors etc. Midd seems to carry a pretty full roster, so that may be what they are doing with JV, but the only way to find out is to email the JV coach.

Great choices, congrats!

@rjjxv26 Has a decision been made?

Hi @wisteria100 and thanks for asking. It’s going to be Middlebury. He’s pretty excited about it.

Great choice. All the best to your son

Congrats on a great outcome, @rjjxv26 !

Thanks to all for the kind words. We did end up getting some more help on the financial aid and, if we can get a scholarship or two to come through, should be able to pull this off with a tolerable amount of pain.
