Deferred Notification

I was deferred back in January and I was wondering when I should be finding out if I was accepted or not. The letter says sometime after February 15th, but I didn't know if that meant more than likely at the end of Feb or March? I don't have any new student tabs so I am thinking I'm going to be denied :-(

I would call them up or better yet send the admissions counselor an email, expressing your strong interest. Let them know how much you want to go to Stonybrook and then ask when they think they will decide. You have absolutely nothing to lose and it might bump you up

Hi, I applied to Stonybrook back in September. On January 1st or 2nd I got a deferral letter pushing me back to February 15. When I got that letter I send them a letter stating my strong interest in Stonybrook. Now it is March and i still have not heard back from them, no acceptance or denial letter. When I checked their Solar website I have no "new student" tab. Also two of my other classmates (of which our SAT, GPAs are very similar) got a acceptance letter at the end of January and they did not apply early action. Does this mean I am denied?

i feel the same way too nikki. I meet all of stony brook's student requirements. i will be pretty heart broken if i don't get in. i feel like it would be to late to express my interest in the school?

good luck.

what were your gpa/sats to get deffered?

in today's society its not about whether you meet the requirements. Its whether you qualify AND how you stack up against other equally qualified/more qualified applicants. That's just the way the world is and I think it's unfair, especially when people get rejected from their #1 choice.

I also think it is outragesous that many SUNYs favor out of state applicants. Write your local elected state officials.

^ Does that ever get old? Seriously no one cares if SUNYs favor out of state. Really drop it...

OP, what were your stats?

"what were your gpa/sats to get deffered? "

My GPA is 3.9 and my SAT is 1190 out of 1600.
As of today I just got a letter stating I got wait listed again and I will hear back from the Admissions Committee by June.
