I talked to the Admissions Office a while ago and they seemed pretty vague about my deferral and said they just wanted to view my application in the context of all the applicants. What did they say to you?

I'm starting to realize that it's nearly impossible to be accepted now...

That's what they said to me when I was deferred for ED 1. They said that I didn't neccessarily need to change anything, just that they wanted to see who else was out there. Ouch. I'm starting to think that I'm going to get waitlisted.

Any new honors or awards/achievements, changes in GPA or class rank can be sent / a publication, new recommendation that reflects something new or different not portrayed in your initial app. Anything that will help you. One example: A close friend of my sons was deferred at Columbia due to not enough community service but it turns out she had not documented or represented all she had done through the years and when she did and got letters to that effect she got in regular decision. Best of luck to all.

i called the day after i got my deferral, so they were probably nicer to me.

anyway i had a huge improvement in my classes and grades (i went from taking no AP's to 3 and i also went from a 3.8UW/4.2W to a 4.16UW/4.85W) and he said he wanted to see if i could keep up my grades (i improved them a little so i hope that helps! four A+'s!!!). but in the context of other people from my school, my 3 AP's are pretty weak compared to another person's 10, so i'm not getting my hopes up too high

i sent an e-mail right after i got deferred, and last month i sent a letter discussing my recent accomplishments. i also sent in another recommendation, but apparently i didn't really have to.
