Does anyone know what percentage of EDers get deferred, and what percent of deferees get accepted? I just found out my fate and am wondering about my chances. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in RD?

I think deferred is pretty good given the alternative of being rejected, which a lot of very highly qualified applicants on here were. It means simply that they will reconsider your application along with the regular decision pool - and also the ED2 pool I guess if they do that. I don’t know if they even keep track of how many who are deferred ED get in, but many schools defer a lot of ED applications. I think it’s a good opportunity to write them a letter and reiterate that you’re very interested in going there - nothing too elaborate since they already know Pomona is your first choice but just say you appreciate them considering you. Personally, based on what I’ve seen of admissions, I think it’s better news than no news since they don’t seem reluctant to reject. They will definitely reject a lot of RD applicants, but you’ve already been “not rejected” once. Does that make sense? I hope it works out for you, but in any case I know you’ll get into someplace great. Time to get some more RD applications in.

If you happen to receive any awards, honors, accolades, etc., between now and RD time, definitely let the admissions office know about it. Good luck!
