Deferred

If I am deferred in the early round and am still interested in that certain college, what should I write in a letter to that college?

It doesn
t hurt to. Whatever you decide, just don
t sit there waiting. If you want colleges to know that you`re really interested in going there, do something about it.

how? just write that I am interested? what other information should I include?

I think you would report any significant changes to your application such as new awards, higher SAT's, and the like..

Only new relevant information, or stuff you left out. If you send in stuff the college can figure out already they will hate you. Actually it won't hurt at all but it won't help you one bit either.

So do something new. Found a club, join a sport. Take the SAT II's maybe?

If you are waitlisted, that's another story. Then you show as much interest as possible. Ask about housing, financial aid, how the weather is.

you should also contact them (or have your GC contact them) to find out if there is anything you can do like submit an additional rec.

The bad news, though, is that at most schools "deferral" is what they do to almost everyone they didn't accept even if they have already decided to reject them. I'm not saying this to discourage you, just to say that you might want to make sure you're doing the best job on all your other apps just in case.
