Deferring First-Year Chemistry

I'm going to be a freshman at Duke in the fall, and I'm considering pre-med. My fall semester I was planning on taking a first year seminar (required), Econ (a freshman course, supposedly really good, so I consider it a good idea since Econ is another major option), Spanish, and Math 32L, which is Laboratory Calc 2.

My question is what kind of affect would it have if I took Chemistry my sophomore year, and did orgo the summer after my sophomore year? I just don't feel comfortable taking time-intensive lab calc, as well as Chemistry my first semester...and I haven't taken AP Chem. Is fitting in all the pre-med reqs still do-able?

I advise against it. Take them one at a time and start now. If chem scares you, start with bio. If you don't like bio, don't stay premed.

Aight. I'm thinking I'll just hold off on the calculus then, since I feel pretty strong about my math skills. Duke just suggests you do Chem before or during bio, because I was all set to take bio my freshman year, but that kind of screwed things up. Thanks for your help.
